Why School Should Start Later

Scientists argue that many students who have to wake up early for school do not get enough sleep and that beginning the school day a later time would boost their achievement. Teenagers need sleep. In order to get enough sleep, school needs to start later. I think school starts too early and it needs to start later. I think school needs to start later in the day. I think school should start later than 8:30. Most schools start between 7:00 and 8:30. That is too early and school should start at 10:00 at the least. Sleep scientists actually say that Students don’t get enough sleep. Scientists say that we are used to waking up to an alarm because we don’t get up at the exact time we have to get up to go to school, because of that many teens are sleep deprived. Waking up too early actually is bad for people the ages of 14-24. High school are moving up start times, but they only move it up about half an hour and students still aren’t getting enough sleep. Students can actually get enough sleep if school starts at 10:00. Then can get about eight or eight and a half hours of sleep if they go to bed really late and if they go to bed 10:00 or 11:00, they can get ten or eleven hours. For me personally, I like school, I just don’t like waking up early. I’m sure that’s the case with lots of other students too. If school started later, then students would be able to sleep in like it’s a weekend. Students wouldn’t fall asleep in school as much and the main reason why students fall asleep in school is because they are sleep deprived, not because they find the topic boring, although sometimes that is the case but most of the time it isn’t. After the time changes, students said that they were even more tired. Very few schools actually changed the start time after the time change. Students would be more willing to go to school with later start
