The last term that I believe is important for everyone to understand for themselves is person. My definition of person is any individual. I believe it is important to see each patient as a person or individual rather than as a number or a diagnosis. Understanding the definition of person can actually be more important in nursing than one may think in my opinion. In my opinion every person has their own needs, experiences, and views so this makes it even more important to view people as individuals rather than as a group. King defined person as a spiritual being that is unique so has different requirements from others (Holaday, 2014, p. 263). Imogene M. I believe that the use of both of these theories allows for better quality care for our patients. The Goal Attainment Theory really allows for a strong nurse to patient relationship since communication plays a large role. The Goal Attainment Theory allows the nurse to identify goals for a patient then it promotes communication between the nurse and patient to identify any barriers and last it allows an opportunity for the nurse to provide resources or support the patient in reaching the goals the team (patient and nurse) have set (Holaday, 2014, p. 262). The Self-Care Deficit Nursing Theory provides guidelines for being able to obtain data, analyze the data, and create a plan of care for patients where there is a question about whether they can independently complete their own activities of daily living (Holaday, 2014, p. 248). I believe that both of these theories provide the framework necessary to catch things that may have been missed and promotes a strong relationship between the nurse and patient. I definitely believe that in nursing communication is one of the most important factors and it appears that both of these theories back of my own personal
