Personal Narrative: My First Day At Michigan State University

Journal Entry #1: Today was my first day at Michigan State University after receiving a scholarship for basketball The program here is amazing, their campus is awesome. I can't wait to play my first game against the Michigan Wolverines. I have finished my first life goal of going to college. Now I have to be drafted into the NBA and have a family. Challenges are what make life interesting and overcoming them is what makes life meaningful. There are colleges all over the nation, but one college stands out to me the most, Michigan State University. I have the self-confidence to get an academic or an athletic scholarship from Michigan State. This is really important to me because I want to play basketball for a D1 college and eventually work my way up to the professional leagues. This also pertains to me because I want to have a higher level of education. This will not happen in the blink of an eye, I gradually have to take step by step. To reach this life goal, in an academic mindset, I will have to put in my best effort to try and get all A’s during high school. On an athletic point of view, I have to prepare my body physically and mentally, so I will have a higher chance to earn a D1 college. People take haste so those things will happen to them. IF I do graduate from Michigan State University, I want to be inducted into the National Basketball Association OR become an astronomer. I have two different options because if I do not make it into the NBA. I will have a backup plan. This specific life goal is important to me because I want to be the first in my family to play a professional sport, but if that plan goes South then I will have a backup plan which is astronomy. To reach this level I will have to increase all areas of basketball OR get a higher degree in astronomy. My brain asks me, “Which path will you choose? I respond by saying,
