I am interested in joining the Honors College at Purdue because it is a collection of motivated and bright students that receive significant opportunities to reach their full potential. The mission of the honors college, as stated online, is to create and foster well-rounded, well-educated global leaders.The four pillars of interdisciplinary academics, leadership development, undergraduate research, and community and global experiences establish the mission statement. I have an interest in the honors college because each pillar that holds up the mission statement contributes in a unique manner to develop individuals like myself to become the bright future of the world. As a member, I would have to contribute to the honors college. I believe that I have the ability to do so through my leadership, academic motivation, and interests in the programs the Honors College provides. I am a leader at my high school because of my volleyball and retreat experiences. I was a captain of the boy's volleyball JV team that had the best win-loss record in school history. I have also led two different retreats that were significant successes. I would translate this leadership experience into everything I did at the honors college. I am also a motivated academic student while balancing different extracurricular activities. I have maintained a 3.7 unweighted GPA while being a student manager of our girl's JV volleyball team and a member of our varsity boy’s volleyball team. The thing that I believe would help me contribute most to the Honors College would be my interest in the different programs provided. As a student with an engineering mind hearing about the Design Garage program through the Honors College interested me. A program like this that takes my academic interests and focuses them on understanding and solving problems is incredible. I would be able to contribute my leadership and academic motivation into something I love doing improving the honors college for others and
