Ever since I was in middle school I dreamed of working in the medical field. I realized nursing was the profession for me when my grandfather became terribly sick with lung cancer during my freshman year of high school. It puzzled me that one of the healthiest and most physically active people I knew could be afflicted by such a damaging disease. After watching my grandfather’s suffering and the pain my entire family felt from his death, I knew I wanted to go into a field to help others that are facing the same challenges. This is when I discovered all of the opportunities that a career in nursing could offer me.
Ever since I was a little girl, I have always dreamed of having a job where I can help people. After doing research throughout my twelve years of school I stubbled across the occupation of a registered nurse and I realized that is the ideal career for me. While researching registered nurses, I determined that anyone can try and become a registered nurse, but it requires a tremendous amount of hard work. This future job will require me to have a great education, extraordinary communication, listening, and personal management skills. As a registered nurse the pay is more than ideal, and it would provide me with the lifestyle I would want to live. This occupation would also give me the chance to work anywhere I want, such as close to home or somewhere in a different state.
Community service is a common service for people to take care of each other and volunteer. People apply to different community services: soup kitchen, taking care of children and homeless people, clinics, churches, schools, neighbor's house and many countless places to volunteer. Some people really enjoy to work at community services while others do not. These community services can be a punishment for criminals because a court assigns them to do so. However, some people do not agree with community service supporters. While some people believe that there should be a community service requirement for high school and college graduation because students need to learn and have experiences there, they are right; on the other hand, a community service requirement should be allowed for two reasons and not be allowed for another three reasons.
Adult Nursing is a very rewarding career which provides endless opportunities. I would describe myself as a caring and compassionate person. I believe I possess these qualities naturally. I am compelled to put other people’s needs before my own. I can contribute my personal qualities to this course of being dedicated and determined into committing myself to this 3 year course and excelling academically. Community Service is a service that is performed for the benefit of the public or its institutions. There are two groups who perform community service, and those are criminals and the rest of us. This means that, for the majority of us, performing community service is completely voluntary. It is for this reasons li that I believe that community service should not be mandatory in high school for graduation. The supporters of this act think of it as an ideal society’s noble concept, but it is rather a noble concept trying to force an ideal society. Service learning is integrated within academic courses in several community colleges, although, other colleges have yet to integrate service learning. The communities whom the students serve have acknowledged the effect because of the value it consists for students. The involvement in community service helps and changes a student's character, desire to volunteer in the community, and become aware of the community's need for development. This civic duty is part of a curriculum that can be an advantage or disadvantage to a student who either invest well in the opportunity, or oppose the basic requirement in order to graduate.
