Argumentative Essay: Should Schools Start Later?

Many kids love their free time after school because they can play sports, be a part of a club, and hang out with friends. Lots of schools have been starting their school day later, because they think that students are not getting the proper amount of sleep each night. Schools should not start later because not every kid has trouble getting up on the morning, the transportation costs are extremely expensive, and it takes away from afterschool sports and activities.

For instance, many students wake up in the morning get dressed, eat and feel ready to take on the day every morning. However it would not only be the funds that are the problem, the elementary kids would still be starting and ending at the usual time or when school got out the kids would have to wait for the middle and high school kids. Many districts use the same buses for elementary, middle, and high schools. Changing start times--and bus schedules--can raise safety issues. ‘We would ba having elementary kids at the bus stop early, in the dark, or even walking home in the dark,’ Michelle tells JS (Junior Scholastic Should Schools Start Later?) Although one gan grant that that schools should start later, one still maintains that the pros far outweigh the cons of schools not starting later.
