If you were to sit down and count all of the different types of cultures in the world, you would be sitting for a very long time. These different types of cultures can be found by traveling to different parts of the world. Different types of people follow their own cultural beliefs and these beliefs start to reflect on the place where they live. With this said, hotels need to be aware of the location where their property is and modify their hotel accordingly. There are three major aspects that hotels need to be aware of when it comes to addressing cultures; these are authenticity, design and legal logistics. These three things change the expectations for any hotel property according to where they are located.

Hotels need to ensure that they are following the rules for the specific location of their property. If a hotel company is based in the United States, but has a property in Asia then the company needs to follow the rules of Asia and not the rules of the United States. If a person from Asia was to go into an American run property (in Asia) and see that laws were being broken they would be terrified. So, guests expect that the laws of the specific land where the hotel is located are always followed. Four Seasons does this exceptionally well and an example of this is their work in France. France has several different laws relating to working and the treatment of employees. One of these rules requires workers to spend a certain number of hours working near a window so they can be exposed to sunlight.
