1. What insights have I gained about my role as an educational leader from these chapters?
A. These chapter have enlighten me to the plights of different immigrant and ethnic groups. For instance, I better understand the origins and motives of the nativist movement, and am convinced that by engaging students in meaningful dialogue and discussion that I can convince these young people of the advantages immigration. Likewise, these chapters modified my understanding of ace in schools, and the struggle that different cultural groups have had to deal with regarding the issue of having their race rightfully respected in the public school system. For example, many sports fans and groups do not understand the offense, and anger that Native Americans have with them about using Indian mascots (Koppelman, 2015, p. 104). ...hy should I advocate for bilingual programs during my leadership?
A. As a school leader it is important that I am advocating for curriculum and programs that allow my students to be career ready. For these reasons, this is why I believe it is important to ensure that our students are exposed to different languages. To illustrate this point and ensure that our country stays safe and secure it may become necessary for school to begin teaching Farsi. This will allow us to train a number of global and political negotiators who may help to secure peaceful resolutions to world conflicts. Likewise, for economic and commerce reasons businesses are seeking employees who are bilingual in order to allow them to help establish business relations around the world. Finally, by promoting this in high schools we may encourage a new set of language teachers (Koppelman, 2015, p. 90).
