The Unexpected Visitor
It was a rainy night. The dark clouds blocked the moon light from hitting the ground. Down on Earth, the Evergreens and other plants and trees shook violently in the wind. The rain water from above crashed onto them violently. The ground was covered with leaves and broken branches, barely visible during a night like this. There was also a great amount of fog throughout the woods. The huge mountains in the East were barely visible from here. There was a small town nearby, just across the road. The small trees around the houses were being illuminated by the faint lights of the lanterns that were put outside. Everything was silent, for it was late at night.
There was a sudden chill in the air, much colder than normal. There was a dark figure behind the trees, as if it was waiting for somebody. And then it raised its head and stared at the house in front of it. It was wearing a hooded cloak, with its face hidden in the darkness. Only two dark red eyes were visible. It lifted its right hand and there was an immediate boom in the air. The thunder had started, and the rain had turned into a blizzard of water. It was there for a few moments, and in the blink of an eye, it was gone.

The wooden floor would creak every time someone walked over it. The house had one kitchen, two bedrooms, one living room, two baths, and one attic. The owner of the house, Connor Kurt, lay sleeping in the bedroom on the second floor. He was a tall man with dark black eyebrows and a long face. His body was very muscular and had big round eyes. His nose was very poi...

“Who…”
And then for him, the world faded into a blank nothingness.

It was a beautiful morning, the birds were chirping, and you could feel the calming warmth of the sun outside. The sky was clear, the trees stood still, and the mountains were visible. The whole community was awake. Everyone was out eating breakfast and meeting and talking to each other. Everyone, except for one person. Connor Kurt was still lying on his bed, as calm and happy as ever. He stood up slowly and went to his bathroom to brush his teeth. He changed into his new clothes and looked out his window. Connor could see an unusual pile of dirt on the ground, deep in the forest. There were rocks and grass all over the place. He walked away and to his mirror, where he saw the dark, black gases coming out of him…

Fiction : A Fictional Story Essay examples

- Fiction is primarily aimed at eliciting emotions of others. When a reader becomes deeper engaged in a fictional story, they often forget how fictional the story really is and enthralled in the characters. This deeper connection in turn leads to an experience of the emotions of the characters; causing a deeper connection to the reading. According to Bruner (Bruner J 1986), a person reading fiction will react more towards a story than when you would read a non-fictional story because fiction provides a safe place for a reader to be able to experience emotions without the need for being self conscious....   [tags: Fiction, Narrative, Narratology, Character]

Science Fiction : A Space Odyssey Essay

- The History of science fiction is one of mankind’s richest forms of true expression, captured by the imagination. Essay on Indians in Unexpected Places

- Deloria, with his analytical survey, Indians in Unexpected Places, recounts the synthesis of western white expectations, and American Indians. The book takes its title from the general thesis, which explores not only the relationship between Indians and their introduction into an alien culture, but also the expectations that we have of Indians and how they “should” interact with our white western culture. According to Deloria, the common notion is that, “Indian people, corralled on isolated and impoverished reservations, missed out on modernity- indeed, almost missed out of history itself.” (Deloria p....   [tags: Non-Fiction Literature, persuasive]

Truth vs. Fiction in Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass and Uncle Tom's Cabin

- Truth vs. Fiction in Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass and Uncle Tom's Cabin It is often said that truth is stranger than fiction. Perhaps, this is so, as truth wears no veil; it is stark reality. There are no soft edges in truth. Only the most zealous hunters, those willing to meet the sword, actively seek it. The majority, while considering ourselves open to the truth, may only realize it when it comes disguised as something else. In short, it seems that we need to see it as not threatening, but molded and plied into something we can digest....   [tags: Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass]

It has almost everything you could wish for in a movie; drama, hilarity, intensity, action, thrills, fun, intelligence, romance, intimacy, over-the-top bravado, vulgarity, sweetness, humor, and soul-searching. The film is very raw and brutal, but has a unique sense of style that keeps the viewers entertained. Interactive Fiction: Computer Games Essay

- Interactive Fiction: Computer Games When I read a good novel I always imagine myself participating in the events, going on the journey with the characters. I can still clearly remember the first time I finished The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien. I was 9 at the time, and the books had a great effect on me. When the story ended, it seemed like I had been along for the ride. Yet I had been involved in the action only as a bystander, nothing more than a ghost watching things happen, unable to effect the events that occurred or interact with the characters I had grown attached to....   [tags: Interactive Fiction Essays]
