Suicide is one of the major themes throughout Hamlet. Hamlet contemplates suicide many of times, and continues to constantly ask himself if he really has any reason to live. Hamlet has a very wide range of emotions; he becomes angry with things and situations, and tries to look for escapes. He always seems to think about it, but for some reason he just keeps on living. Maybe he wants to continue to live because he wants to complete revenge for his father, or maybe he is scared of the idea of death and the place he might have to be in his afterlife. We all know that no matter what you have going on in life, that there must be at least one thing that keeps you living from day to day. To Hamlet, that was probably revenge.

He is always worrying that he will be sent to hell for committing a sin. He believes in God and he believes in a heaven. Since Hamlet believes in both heaven and our God, he is not able to commit suicide and depart from this world. He wishes that he could die, but at the same time he knows that he must live. God decides where and when people die and his judgment is supposed to be final. Humans just think that they can end their lives and they 'll be alright with that. But it is God who determines when life is brought in and out of the world. Therefore, this is partly why Hamlet didn’t commit suicide.
The play Hamlet, also treats the idea of suicide aesthetically. However, the notion of killing himself is pleasing to his own mind. His mind is in a state in which he really thinks that it is okay to consider suicide sometimes. He wishes that he would be able to make the ultimate sacrifice in his own death. Hamlet’s father was murdered, and he probably didn’t want to commit suicide because then his life would be gone. He would never get any answers. He would never figure out what exactly happened to his father; he would never find out why his girlfriend took her own life, and he would just be an empty human with no emotions connected to him at all. If that is why he continued his life, then that’s fine. Let’s just be glad that Hamlet did not take his own life, no matter the circumstances.
The way that Hamlet departed from this world, is much better than the way he wanted to die. Laertes, the son of Polonius and the brother of Ophelia, is cut by his own sword 's blade, and after revealing to Hamlet that Claudius is responsible for the queen 's death. He dies from the blade 's poison. Hamlet then stabs Claudius through with the poisoned sword and forces him to drink down the rest of the poisoned wine.
