The next generation of video game consoles is upon us, with Sony’s Play Station 4 leading the charge. Rather than the console being the center of the living room, Sony is making the player the focus. This helps transform a previously unsocial, solitary pass time into a community based personalized system.
Sony’s PS3 came out about six years ago. Unfortunately, Microsoft had released the Xbox 360 prior to the release of the PS3. People bought the Xbox because at its release it was the only console of its class. Sony learned their lesson and is the first company to announce their next generation console.
The PS3’s hardware has not yet been fully utilized by game creators. Nevertheless, Sony is releasing their new system this holiday season; it will far surpass its predecessor. The PS4 boasts a 176GB band width, 8GB of ram, and an 8-core 64-bit x86 "Jaguar" CPU (Lawler, 2013). Sony compares their new system to a “supercharged pc” (Sony, 2013).
The PS4’s advanced hardware allows many different options for game developers and increases the ease of use for gamers. At the announcement of the PS4, Sony already had several game developers talk about the games that they were working on creating. The most common thing that was said was that they were now able to create the games they had always dreamed of. The PS4 was designed by game developers for game developers. As Sony said, “When the developers are happy the gamers are happy” (2013). The new hardware also allows for nearly instant downloads. The 8GB of ram allows it to download the very beginning of the game initially and continue downloading the rest of the game while the player starts the game.
The PS4 was built with community at its core. This system will contain the first ever ...

Hello gamers! I'm Andrew McNeil, and today, there are a few facts you should know. With a new generation of video game consoles, I’m sure you are all eager to buy the best system. The problem is, (point towards crowd) you can’t decide which one to actually buy. That’s why reviews were invented: to let people know what the best game system is.
Video games started as arcade machines with simple graphics and even simpler stories, soon evolving into home gaming with The Magnavox Odyssey, the world’s first home-gaming console. It invaded living rooms in 1972, selling 300,000 units. Since then there has been many consoles and games released, some have been huge commercial successes which
Do you or any of your friends play video games on a console? If you ask gamers the question, “gaming console you like the most?” they will probably say Xbox One or PlayStation 4. Xbox and PlayStation are known as the most popular gaming consoles of all the time. These two consoles have been competing for a very long time for the throne of the best game console since 2001 until now. In this article, we are going to find out which console has the best advertisement, We are going to determine this not by the console’s hardware, not by its cool features, and not by what exclusive games they have. It is because to grade the games and features are good or bad is kind of difficult because everyone can has different games
I chose the PlayStation 4 as my artifact because it is the computer that provides media and entertainment to the largest screen in a living space: the television. Having a beautiful eighty inch flat screen is useless without a device to play media. The PlayStation 4 is my device of choice to have connected to my TV. It is the jack of all trades, gaming on it is phenomenal, there is a Blu-ray player built in, and it has hundreds, if not thousands, of apps including Netflix. With a PlayStation 4 plugged into my TV I have access to endless amounts of content; A fundamental need to the college life.
The Microsoft Xbox has powerful components within that overpower any other console, including its CPU or it’s Central Processing Unit. The Xbox runs an Intel Pentium III 733-megahertz (MHz) processor. This is a lot more powerful than Nintendo Gamecube’s IBM Power PC 485-megahertz Gekko chip processor and even lower the Sony Playstation 2’s 128 bit “Emotion Engine” which is clocked around 294-megahertz. A few more components that make this console far superior to any other is its graphics processor, or GPU, which stands for Graphic Processing Unit. Microsoft had teamed up with Nvidia to create a chip that was made especially for the Xbox. The computer-based company ‘s 250-megahertz chip gives the console an amazing resolution of 1920x1080 pixels and 125 Million Polygons per Second. Sixty four- (64) megabytes (Mb) of DDRam back all this up, for great non-glitch games and smooth running. Nintendo also has a computer-based company teaming up with them to create the 162-megahertz ATI Flipper GPU Chip. This chip can only handle around 6-12 Million polygons a second and is only backed up by 43-megabytes of DDRam.
The first thing to think about when choosing to buy a console is the type of hardware is used for that console. Both the Xbox One and PlayStation4 both have some similarities in their hardware like their HDD, Audio/Visual output, and Wi-Fi. The differences in hardware of the Xbox One and PlayStation4 are the GPU and CPU. The PlayStation4’s GPU has 1.84 TFLOPS, AMD Radeion Graphics Core Next Engine which is better than the Xbox One, the PlayStation4’s CPU is a Low Power x86-64 AM “Jaguar” , 8 Cores which is slightly better than
Sony is the creator of the Sony Playstation. Video game console manufacturers generally use the console as a loss leader and hope to profit on their gaming platforms by selling licenses to produce games to software manufacturing companies. Thus, Sony created a barrier of entry in console manufacturing because other hardware manufacturers would have to be willing to lose money per hardware unit sold in order to compete with Sony. Also, such a manufacturer wouldn’t receive the software game revenues that Sony receives, which gave Sony what seemed to be a monopoly on the Playstation platform. The Sony Playstation consists of hardware components and software components. The software component is the Sony BIOS, which is resides in read-only memory. Sony holds a copyright on the BIOS.1

The case study highlighted that the new game Wii introduced by the company had the ability to attract individuals considered non-gamers or casual gamers. The Wii was not as powerful or technologically advanced as the Xbox 360 and the PS3, but its success lies in its ability to provide a new means of playing video games. The innovative design of the Wii’s controller, which had built in motion sensors, created a whole new gaming experience for users - on...
Exercises are important activities for people who want to achieve healthy lives. Imagine that John, a person who loved to play tennis. He played tennis every morning before he went to work. However, one day, it rained hard outside and he couldn’t play his favorite sport anymore. He was so sad and depressed. Luckily, he remembered that he had a Wii--a video game console-- that could help him to play tennis with online people inside his house. It’s a big thank to the video game industry, now people can play sports any time they want inside their houses. Not only tennis, there is a ton of exercise game for people to choose: dancing games, yoga games, footballs game, fitness games to name a few. More than that, the video game industry is trying to create new exercise games that are more and more realistic so that people can burn the same amount of calories as they do actual sports when they play video games. In additions, for the first time in century, everyone can actually play sports and compete with people around the worlds inside their small houses. Exercising is more fun than ever before. ESPN channel actually broadcasts video games as normal sports. People can also learn about healthy foods when they play cooking video games. For an example, Cooking Academy, a game where players will play as a chef and learn to cook more than fifty recipes. Players will fry, chop, flip, mash, and more while answering
Jason furiously responded “For your information it’s PS4, which stands for PlayStation Four. And I can buy whatever I want, you’re not my mom don’t see you complaining how you spent all of your allowance money on just one Coach Purse. At least I’m doing something fun and productive, you’re always in your room reading those romance books and writing fan fiction.”
...ies for educational purposes as the oculus rift. It mostly depends on if companies begin to make virtual educational games for the PlayStation 4. Also if Sony allows the device to be connected to other devices than the console it will certainly help.
This particular computer also intrigued me because of its processor. The processor is a common one, an Intel Pentium 4. I like that Sony decided to stick with Intel, since they are an American brand. The exact processor they used is the Intel Pentium 4 3.6Ghz 560J with HT Technology. The Hyper threading technology is very helpful and I’m glad they decided to use it because it really makes multi-tasking even with complex software faster and more efficient and significantly cuts down on the lag. The 3.6 Gigahertz processor is very very fast and can handle even the most multifaceted functions. The bus speed is also very impressive coming out with a total of 800 solid Megahertz’s. This is an extremely fast bus speed considering it only has one successor the 1066 Mhz speed.
The computer has progressed in many ways, but the most important improvement is the speed and operating capabilities. It was only around 6 years ago when a 386 DX2 processor was the fastest and most powerful CPU in the market. This processor could do a plethora of small tasks and still not be working to hard. Around 2-3 years ago, the Pentium came out, paving the way for new and faster computers. Intel was the most proficient in this area and came out with a range of processors from 66 MHz-166 Mhz. These processors are also now starting to become obsolete. Todays computers come equipped with 400-600 Mhz processors that can multi-task at an alarming rate. Intel has just started the release phase of it’s new Pentium III-800MHz processor. Glenn Henry is
