Anti-Bullying
(An Essay about Addressing Solution to the Problem of Bullying)

“One traumatic bullying experience can create and leave a never-healing scar that last forever,” says Ty Howard. The sad truth is that people around the world get bullied everyday. Bullying is affecting daily lives of many people and it leaves them scared to do normal activities. Once someone gets bullied it’s hard for them to bounce back and be the same. It leaves a non-physical scar that people try to hide by being alone. Bullying around the world need to stop, so people can be themselves and not be scared to do everyday activities. There are three solutions that can solve the problem of bullying.

Everyone needs to be on the same page when it comes to bullying. It could be a motivational speaker, a motto, or rules with consequences. Any of these examples can help address the problem. Erin Hellwig wrote an article about bullying and suggests, “An entire school district needs to have the same language within all its schools in order to reduce bullying.” (Hellwig) I know that this method truly works from experience. I’ve spent two years at one high school and my other two years at another. One of those high schools had all three examples of addressing the problem. Throughout those two years, I have witnessed only a couple cases of cyberbullying. These cases weren’t on a daily basis and the bullying would only last for a couple hours. People would stand up for one another on social media. I feel like addressing the problem helped people stand up for one another. Irene Van Der Zande also wrote an article about bullying and comments, “Realizing when bullying is taking place is a necessary first step in finding solutions.”(Zande) The people that were on social media realized that bullying was going on and they acted upon it. The school that really didn’t address the problem had a ton more cases of bullying.
