I believe that Social work is one of the most important professions there are because without social work there would not be that strong support system that many individuals need to keep them selves going. To be a social worker there are some important traits that a person needs in order to provide the best job possible in helping their clients to succeed. A social worker must have the traits of empathy, patientience, dependable, organized, flexible, persistent and objective. Not only should a social worker have these traits; they should also take pride, honor and follow the six social work core values. The six core social work vales are service, social justice, Human dignity and worth of all people, importance of human relationships, Integrity and cultural competence (Cummins, L., Sevel, J., & Pedrick, L. (2012). Social workers provide the best resources available to their clients as well as enhance human well-being and help meet the basic needs of all people, with attention to individuals that are oppressed and living in poverty (Cummins, et al., 2012). There are many different social workers that are (Cummins, et al., 2012). Social workers are also represented in different diverse settings to help different ages from younger kids to the elderly. I was first introduced to Service learning during Social work 250. Before taking Intro to social work I did not know much about service learning but I learned that service learning is a way to help you get hands on experience in a choice of place that interest’s you. Service learning teaches you many different important traits, which you need in order to succeed in your future professional jobs. Some of the traits learned during the service learning experience are time management, responsibility, critical thinking, how to carry your self in a professional way, professional connections
