Good evening, friends, families, fellow classmates, Curley staff, and all else who may be visiting today. I felt the need to distinguish the two separate groups, friends and classmates, due to the sole reason that almost all of you are not my friends, nor do I ever hope you will be. Quite frankly, it is not just that I simply not like you all, I actually dislike most of you. Do not take this too personal though, I am just very excited to finally leave all of you and go our separate ways, except for those who are going to the same college as I am, in which case I hope that we avoid crossing paths again. I stand before you tonight, not because I am the valedictorian, even though I am clearly intellectually superior to the majority, nor because I have been recognized as Curley man of the year due to a possible bribery or just the misguided judgements of whomever decides on this silly award. I am here because I am the only one of our class who can compose a speech that does not consist of the all too common, basic, and honestly boring graduation speeches that anyone and everyone could create, or so I thought. For example, always try your hardest and never settle for anything less than your best. I used to be one of those kids who didn’t apply myself to my fullest capabilities and look at where I am now, in classes where people struggle to do even the most simple of tasks. Now I am not referring to all of you, we are all smart in different ways, however it is very possible that some of you will never find out. Not all of my classes are like that though. There has been one teacher that has really pushed me to become a much better student, and that is Mr. DeMarco. Over these past two years, I have taken a College Anatomy & Physiology, as well as AP Biology. For 75% of my time taking those classes, I have maintained a barely passing average. Contrary to what was expected of me in that class, in this last semester, my grades have been showing consistent A’s. This improvement makes me thing two things. 1. It disappoints me to know that, if I only received that miracle towards my grades earlier, I could’ve been doing so much better than before, and 2. It makes me wonder how far I can get in this world now with my bolstered confidence in outperforming others in
