Obesity and The Fast Food Industry

As a college student I eat a lot of fast food. I probably eat out or get food through the drive-thru seven times a week. My mother made most of my meals during the week when I was growing up, she always made sure I had a healthy dinner four out of the seven days of the week. As life as gotten busier with work and college, its much more difficult to attain a consistent healthy eating schedule. I love fast food. I like the taste and always have cravings for a vast majority of fast food joints. However, I know it is bad for me and can long lasting health effects on my well being. In Eric Schlosser’s Fast Food Nation, he exposes the underbelly of the fast food industry. He examines the unhealthy food preparation procedures and the corporate greed that is at the heart of the problem.
Schlosser examines the meat packing industry and the stomach turning factors involved in the process of getting the meat on the bun.
