I believe we are in the midst of a new Harlem Renaissance because although most things are piggy backed off one another music has changed over the past 40 years. There has been new things that have been innovated and helped change the arts culture. A person who I believe has had a tremendous impact in music today that would be a part of the new Harlem renaissance would be Michael Jackson. No single artist has covered what Michael Jackson accomplished in the first years of his adult solo career. Jackson changed the balance in the pop world in a way that nobody has.
