Negative effects of cell phone use on teenagers In today’s generation, we notice more and more usage of cell phones. It’s become the way of life now. There are thousands of teens that now stand in line waiting for the newest model of the iPhone. It seems as if this small piece of technology rules the majority of teen’s lives and takes them away from reality. In the wise words of my mother, “Cell phones are turning teenagers into robots.” The increase in the teenage use of cellular technology has made negative impacts including, but not limited to, poor communication/social skills, an increase in vehicular accidents/ anxiety, and increase in stress levels/sleep loss (Shi 2016). Due to the loss of face-to-face conversation, there is a lack of communication and social skills (Shi 2016). When teens become so drawn to the use of cell phones, they have little to no idea of how to hold a proper conversation. Cell phones can come in handy, but in no way need to be used 24/7. Teens talk and text on the phone without realizing that it can cost their lives.
