The nation’s oldest and largest civil rights organization is under attack, but why? That’s what is going on right now with the NRA and the issues that they are defending. Ever since the NRA was founded, it has been doing things to help out the people of this country and to shape the country itself. There are so many controversies that are going on today in politics that are the center of the NRA’s philosophy. The NRA does a lot for the people of this country by impacting the lives of millions of Americans, through its many organizations. Not to mention, the NRA is a non-profit organization and would not be able to make this impact without the help of others. The NRA’s biggest stance is the Second Amendment. It is their primary focus to do everything they can to make sure that citizens have the “right to bear arms” and that the Second Amendment is not violated. The NRA is a very important organization that has impacted the lives of millions of Americans. While protecting the Second Amendment right, the NRA insures that each and every American gun rights are not infringed. It will continue to protect those rights today because they believe that it was is right and becasue it says in the constitution that it “shall not be infringed.”
The NRA was founded by Col. William C. Church and Gen. George Wingate after a charter was granted by the state of New York on November 17, 1871. They wanted to “help promote and encourage rifle shooting on a scientific basis,” along with assistance to blacks so they would be able to defend themselves individually from the KKK. These two men noticed that their troops did not have very good marksmanship and that the government was doing nothing to stop the KKK, which was even aided by local law enforceme...

...t. Even though there may be a lot of negative views about the NRA in our society, it is clear that the NRA is a great organization that does a lot for millions of people.
