Personal Experience: My Favorite Type of Music is Rock and Roll

Out of all the various types of music we have studied, I would have to say my favorite type of music would be from the mid to late 60s’, 70’s and 80‘s era. My favorite style of music would be rock& roll. To be specific I am talking about some of the music we studied in unit 12, 13 and 18 of our text book.
I like this style of music the best because it best represents who I am and what I enjoy. The lyrics to the songs during these times were mainly fun and easily understood compared to other genres of earlier music that seemed were very dark, depressing, or hard for me to understand or relate to.
In my opinion, rock and roll is just easier to listen to and dance to, compared to other genres of music before the 1950’s. This was mainly because the lyrics and the music prior to the 50’s were just boring and very difficult to dance to. I am sure my opinion of this type of music before the 50’s is just based on my age and the time era in which I grew up in.
Rock and Roll has good rhythm to it and a backbeat which sounds different from other earlier genres of music. It also has the blues influence which I like. Earlier genres of music in my opinion didn’t have the same type of rhythm, speed, syncopation or the strong back beat, the riffs and the hooks that rock & roll has. I also like the vocal ranges that some of the rock & roll musicians have and their ability to make them sound so unique. From the early 60’s and on, the music in general just sounded a lot better. Rock and roll during these times also became more rhythmically better.

...some of my favorites from this record. All these songs from this album contained all the rock & roll elements that I absolutely love. Their songs were also very danceable and fun to listen to.
In conclusion I must point out that it was very hard for me to pick just one style of music or just two bands. There are so many other styles of music I enjoy listening to and numerous artists that I totally appreciate. I could probably write forever naming all the musicians and different styles of music I enjoy.
It was also kind of difficult for me to explain rock & roll specifically, because it contains many of the elements of the different genres from some of the earlier music we studied. I just know that rock & roll wouldn’t have become what it is today, if it were not for our musicians in the past which has allowed us to learn and grow from them.
