In the movie "Mulan", she decided to prove that she is worth something. Even though she isn't a princess, I consider her a role model, because In history, more men have been recognized as heroes than women. Is it because men are more determined and stronger than women? A woman who has proven that this wrong is Mulan. Mulan is worthy of the title “hero” because she was an inspirational, courageous and brave. She shows young viewers that they can accomplish anything,no matter the gender. If someone has the desire to do something or be something they should do it.
This movie teaches viewers to be themselves and not be defined as what others want them to be. Mulan had to follow the Chinese tradition and become a harem wife, that was something that she didn't want to do. If someone doesn't have an interest in something, I feel as they shouldn't have to be forced into doing whatever it may be, everyone should have a say in if they want to do it or not.
Mulan sees that being a harems wife isn't for her, when her father was selected to go fight, she stepped up and wanted to fight for him, but there's a rule that women cannot fight in the army. I feel women deserve to be treated the same because anyone can serve our country as Mulan showed. Women are strong willed and should not be undermined by men. If women want to serve their country they should be able to.
Not being able to fight for her country as a girl, she decides to make herself look like a boy in order to go and fight in the place of her dad, as her dads “son”. Even though they did that to her, she didn't give up. She still continued saving China by going to the palace and saving the Emperor. She succeeded in doing so and people including the Emperor bowed down to her. People betray others everyday, but they should make one want to become better.
Overall, Mulan is more of the stronger Disney movies, because her message shows viewer to be brave, determined in all that they do and to be theirself and have a strong will in what they believes is right. She was the hero, not the prince that went from a clumsy girl to a strong brave woman who saved China. Anyone can be a hero at whatever it is, doesn't matter; race, age or gender.
This scene also leaves the viewers relieved, and happy because Mulan gets to stay the army and she has finally shown everyone else that she is just as good has them and even better.
The changes of all of these characters was highly important in terms of the plot of the movie. The film shows how all these completely different people changed so they could come together and fight for a cause that they all believed in, and it shows how they underwent that change. This shows us how it is possible for people to come together, no matter how different they are, and fight as one for a cause they all truly believe in.
Mulan goes through being rescued when she fights Shan-Yu on top of the roof of the Emperor’s palace and Mushu helps Mulan pin Shan-Yu down and blow him up with fireworks. Mulan‘s ego decreases when Mushu successfully tries to help her get rid of Shan-Yu. She considers herself a hero now and does not want Mushu to think she cannot fight her own battles. Mulan in the end disregards her ego in order for her to not die on the roof. Mulan crosses the final threshold when she returns to her home with the gifts from the Emperor hoping her family will forgive her for leaving the family to go fight in the war. Her father accepts Mulan’s new power and wisdom and told her that, “The greatest gift and honor is having you for a daughter.” Mulan’s return to the past is pleasant and safe knowing that nothing can change her family’s love and affection for her. In addition, Mulan enters into the final step in the hero’s journey: the freedom to live. Mulan shows her freedom to live when she invites her soul mate, Li-Shang for dinner. This event marks the end of Mulan dwelling on the past and makes her excited, but not concerned about what the future
Stereotyping throughout the film has created chaos. People are endangered and mislead. Stereotyping leads to sexual abuses, racial judgments, and power conflicts. It is all negative influences on individuals in which they are categorized and grouped together to be more easily discriminated. People are people. We are all the same, and come from similar experiences. We need to realize that we are all human and it should not be part of our life to misjudge on first sight. We need to improve, be more aware of others, and always keep an open mind. Avoiding stereotype improves our society and cultures from every person to every group. In the end, we are the same and we are all connected.
The main stereotype in this movie is that Asian men only care about their jobs and their careers and little else. That the Asian man will go through great sacrifice to get to the top of the business that they work for. From beginning to end, many white families are portrayed in the movie showing that the American people have family values. Yes, Mulan is an unorthodox heroine who changes all the rules, but she does so by conforming to a flawed system and affecting change from the inside, under the guise of a man. In lieu of doing it as a woman, it is not as girl power filled as many of us would like to believe. She, for the most part, affects all of this change as a man. Once she’s discovered, all her hard work in the training and the relationships she’s forged are all tossed to the wind and she’s quickly relegated back to her place as a lowly woman. However, despite its flawed execution in being a girl power story, it embodies a quintessential feel-good, be true to your heart film that will leave you wanting to affect change in the world around you.

Overall, the Disney movie, Mulan, demonstrates gender roles, socialization of gender roles, and consequences of breaking the gender roles. By Mulan going to war for her father, in China, many things were at risk, life, honor, and the country of China, itself. Displaying the characteristics a man had was the only way for Mulan to survive, granted, she was not great at displaying woman characteristics in the first place. Being caught in war, as a woman, meant death, but Mulan was lucky for her bravery when saving Captain Li Shang, for he spared her life, which allowed Mulan to help save China and the emperor in the end. Even though China had very strict gender roles, Mulan broke them to save her father’s life and became the person she was meant to be.

Oprah Winfrey is one of the most respected women in the world and who I consider a hero because she is cultured, courageous and humble. Some people might think that a hero is a strong person who enjoys fame and a high position in a society. According to Oxford Dictionary, a heroine is "a woman of distinguished courage or ability, admired for her brave deeds and noble qualities” (Heroin, 2013). In my point of view, a hero is a selfless leader who has courageous and noble qualities, extensive knowledge, and who is committed to perform specific humanitarian tasks. These traits of a hero would leave the imprint of his/her successor to influence the world positively.
