Recommended: Positive and negative effects of minimum wage

In the United States, there has been a big debate on minimum wage between the two main parties known as the democratic and republican parties. First of all, the main concern since 2009 is that the minimum wage has been of $9.00 dollars and many liberals and a few republicans believe that it should be raised to $15 dollars. In the last couple years, it has been argued that the minimum wage is not enough to meet ends meet in the United States. This topic regarding the raise of the minimum wage is important for a few reasons. First, democrats believe that the minimum wage today is no enough to help people with their bills, or to help them have a better life. Many democratic politicians believe that low-income workers need to have a chance to a better life. First of all, supporters believe that raising will help not just low-income workers, but also will help poverty to decrease. According to the journal huff post it was stated that, “the state and local minimum wage proposals have gotten a major boost from the fast-food workers who have periodically gone on strike in increasing numbers (Jamieson, 2015).” Fast food restaurant have been the concern workers that believe their monthly check is not enough to support their families. On the other hand, republicans believe that raising the minimum wage will not help people financially. According to the journal The Fight Against 15 stated that, “minimum wage increase could be hazardous to your political health, and my guess is that opponents will prefer to dodge the issue than to engage it head on (Salam, 2015).” It will be a negative issue because raising the wage will make health expenses more expensive. The republicans strongly believe that increasing the wage will affect the lives of millions of vulnerable people in the United States. Another article stated, “republicans insisted that raising the federal minimum wage would hurt businesses and would not be a substantive step to addressing poverty (Lowery, 2014).” Overall, both of these parties …show more content…

It has been argued by the political parties that gun control is a controversial issue because allowing citizens own a gun can result in bad consequences. Hillary Clinton stated in the journal where the 2016 democratic candidates on gun laws that, “she will act on her own to close loopholes in the background check system that allows people to buy guns online or at gun shows without undergoing any scrutiny (Miller, 2015).” The democrats stand on a mores strict regulation in allowing guns to those with bad or good background checks. They believe that giving these people background checks will be more convenient, than just handling any gun at loopholes or gun shows with no scrutiny secure basis. These people need to be securely checked on any violations regarding the use of guns, if they have been incarcerated before and what they do for a living. On the other hand, the republicans believe that gun control is for the peoples own protection, but have their own arguments regarding gun control. According to the journal Republicans and gun control: a sad mantra states, “the problem is mental illness and not necessary gun registration or gun ownership (Cassidy, 2015).” The republicans believe that those shootings are coming from mental ill people.
