In this essay I will describe to you why I decided for my career to be a Marine Engineer and also any Marine Employee. I will help you understand why, by going through the topics of education, the history, duties, job requirements, advancement through the career, and any benefits that come with it.
The 1st thing that I am going to talk about is the education requirements. For you to become a Marine Engineer or Naval Architect you must have at least a Bachelor’s Degree and there is also no on the job training. Entry level jobs in Marine Engineering and/or Naval Architecture require a Bachelor’s degree in marine engineering, marine systems engineering, or marine engineering technology. Programs typically include courses in calculus, physics, and computer-aided design. The courses that are specific to ME’s and NA’s include ship hull strength, fluid mechanics, and mechanics of materials. Some also have degrees in mechanical or electrical engineering. Students interested in preparing for this career may find it a benefit from taking high school courses in math (algebra, trigonometry, and calculus) and also in science such as chemistry and physics. For aspiring NA’s, drafting coursed are also beneficial.
The job requirements of a US Marine Engineer/ Naval Architect require a Bachelor’s degree. Also they must usually take an exam for a mariner’s license from the U.S. Coast Guard. The 1st stage of the license is known as the 3rd Assistant License. With more experience and more testing, a ME may get a 2nd and then a 1st Assistant License. On the other hand, the Coast Guard is highly responsible for enforcement on maritime law but is usually known for S&R efforts at sea.
In these last several paragraphs, I have told all about every branch of the military and about my career as a marine engineer. In this career, you make good money, have good education, and learn lots of new materials required to stay a worker here. Now that I have told about my career, I must now achieve my goal of joining this career. This has been an essay over my career.

The United States Marine Corps (USMC) is a branch of the United States Armed Forces whose sole purpose is to provide an assault force from the sea and to be the initial strike force of the United States Military. The USMC is currently under the Department of the Navy but is recognized as its own branch of the military. The USMC has served in every major war since the Revolutionary War in 1775. The United States Merchant Marines The United States Merchant Marines are complied of thousands of the best trained men and women of today to man naval or commercial ships. Merchant Marines have dated back even further then the United States Coast Guard. The Merchant Marines have had a huge impact on the United States Navy since they have been established. Merchant Marines have manned fleets of ships for the U.S. Navy which carry imports and export during peace time.
The United States Navy is the second oldest branch of the military and is the largest branch if you encompass it with the marines. The U.S. Navy is also one of the most important branches of the military. Each other branch would practically be nothing without the Navy. The difference is that the navy and the Marines would be able to remain functional without the help of any of the other branches of the military. The reason they could remain functional without the other branch’s is that the navy and marines cover all aspects of warfare together thus making the navy the most flexible branch of the military (Navy.Mil).

The Marine hymn is eternally etched in the mind's and soul of every recruit and officer who have served in the United States Marine Corps. Every Marine has gone through boot camp, each sacrificing blood, sweat, and tears. One thing that has never deteriorated in their years of existence is the fact that they have yet to lose a war they have put effort in. Is this exceptional record due to their extensive training? Is it because of their aggressive nature and mindset? What is to follow may shed some light on these questions and perhaps give some type of insight on how the Marine Corps was so prevailing and what conflicts had they had conquered. 1775, November 10th. This date is memorized and celebrated by every United States Marine as something of excellence, a date of honor. This date is non other than the "birthdate" of the Marine Corps. It was on this date that the Continental Congress passed a resolution to create two operational battalions of American Marines. These men would ultimately be headed by Captain Samuel Nicholas, of the United States Naval department. It was in Philadelphia that the first Marines were grouped and trained for their inaugural mission. The three hundred Marines that had been recruited, were placed aboard eight transport ships, all destined for the beaches of New Providence (the Bahamas). Upon their landing on March 3rd, 1776, they fought up the beach, sweeping through a barrage of bullets, and took command of two small stone forts and a number of military storage complexes.
The second characteristic of professionalism is responsibility. General responsibility creates the moral responsibility of marines and helps us understand the set of values which guide us. In addition, however, marines must also possess the values of other human beings and question service to a society which does not respect these values. These values include justice, common courtesy, human dignity and humbleness. A government which does not respect these values is illegitimate and cannot be said to serve the society it directs. In the case of United States marines, the values of the United States must be examined in the context of the military profession. The Declaration of Independence and the Constitution provide clear statements of these values and Ethics. Ethics are standards by which one should act based on values. Webster’s dictionary defines the word profession as a type of job that requires special education, training, or skill. Many Soldiers would not consider the Army as a profession but a way of life. Some think the word profession belongs to everyday jobs like a plumber, mechanic, or doctor. Dr. Don M. Snider stated “the Army is a profession because of the expert work it produces, because the people in the Army develop themselves to be professionals, and because the Army certifies them as such” (Snider, D. M. 2008). In October 2010, the Secretary of the Army directed the Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) to lead an Army wide assessment of the state of the Army Profession. We have been at war as a Country for over a decade and the Army wanted to know how to shape the future of the Army as a profession and the effects the past decade had on our profession.

There are eleven basic types of engineering each with their own subcategories that the careers specialize in. The one that interests me the most, mechanical engineering, utilizes multiple categories of engineering but mostly focuses on moving parts. Because mechanical engineering uses more concepts of the other sub-categories of engineering than any other, it is a very flexible career that no employers can go without (Constant). This article is all about engineering and gives a decent overview of most of its branches and fundamentals.
There are many reasons why the Army should be considered a profession. The Army trains and certifies its members, has continuing development of its personnel, and contains many professions within it. Much like doctors and lawyers, the Army requires each member to complete training and certification. The Army focuses on development of its personnel to maintain skills important to the profession. Aside from the profession itself, the Army contains many other professions. The U.S. Army has and will continue to maintain and advance the profession through study and intellectual development.
Throughout my life there has been many events that have shaped the way I am. The one event that had the greatest impact and has been constant is my military career. Since I joined the military I have changed roles, conformed to new norms, and learned new values. Like most service members the parts that shape your military career is the beginning, so as a focus I will look at my basic training, technical school and first duty station which these three combined events in my life has shaped the last 14 years. Through these phases in my life I have learned a lot about the military society, society in the United States, the world and of course me.
To become a mechanical engineer you must have a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. You usually have to be good in math, science, and engineering. Some colleges have a 5 year program. This program is for students with a bachelor 's degree and a masters degree. This program gives students a lot of experience when will get them ready for after college. It also helps them earn money to help contribute part of their education.
Depending on the particular field of engineering, engineers might find themselves testing, maintaining, and using computers to design products. Other engineers, however, might find themselves on construction sites, monitoring, directing, and solving issues on-site. A license in engineering is required for an engineer who offers their services to the public, obtained by passing the Fundamentals of Engineering exam after graduating from college as well as the Principles and Practicing of Engineering exam after enough work experience is gained. Similarly, a US citizenship is almost always required for an engineer working for the federal government (“Engineers”).
Looking back after nine years, I could not feel more assured that at that time, I made the right choice. My unusual combination of experiences sets me worlds apart from not only a normal engineer but also from a marine engineer at similar position. Working for a big shipping company, exclusively on international assignments in high tech, capital intensive and rising LNG industry is the kind of job I had envisioned at the time of finishing my graduation. I could not have come here without that choice I made back then.
