Malala Yousafzai is a teenager that made international headlines. Malala was shot point-blank range and didn’t die from it. Young people can change the world. The Taliban was a group destined to do wrong and was against equal rights for women. Malala Yousafzai was a girl determined for women to have the same rights as men and she got “punished” by the taliban with a gunshot through the head. Malala recovered fine and went on to become a women's right activist. She also was awarded many prizes for her great courage. Malala Yousafzai was a strong women strengthened by the obstacles she faced that have gotten her where she is.
The autobiography I am Malala by Malala Yousafzai begins with the scene of young pakistani education and women’s rights activist Malala being shot in the head. Her school bus had been stopped by the Taliban who, after asking which of the girls was Malala, put a bullet into her head. Malala ends the powerful prologue with the words “Who is Malala? I am Malala and this is my story” (9). Malala then rewinds to the story of her birth and how in Pakistan, no one congratulated her parents when she was born because she was a girl. Pakistani culture pushes for the birth of a boy as an islamic majority country. However, her father saw the potential in his daughter as a great leaser and named her after one of the great female leaders in Pakistan- Malalai of Maiwand who inspired the Afghan people, who were losing hope, to spur the army to victory against the British/Indian forces. Malala describes life in Mingora, Swat Valley, Pakistan. She outlines the Indian- Pakistan revolution and the shift of the Pashtun people into the Swat Valley. Malala’s father grew up in Shahpur but struggled to get his education in the town where he met Malala’s mother. They married and his dream of building a school, Khushal Public School, became reality when they moved into Mingora.
The article “Malala the Powerful” by Kristin Lewis, defined a girl named Malala a Pakistani girl who stood up for her right to let girls go to school during the war. Malala was standing up for her right when she was shot in the head during the Pakistani war. She and her dad were very courageous in their actions.With Malala doing so the word was spread of the Taliban. Notes were passed under her door saying and warning her of death. October 9, 2012 was when the Taliban shot her and 2 of her friends on a bus, luckily Malala and her 2 friends survived. Being shot in the face and seriously injured, did not stop Malala Yousafzai from pursuing her dreams. She did not morally agree with her government’s treatment of women, so she fought for her beliefs. Malala grew up in a rural village in Pakistan and was forced to follow customs she did not believe in. Swat Valley changed to a strictly ruled village with discrimination towards women. Malala created awareness around the world of the situation and stood up for her rights to education.
Malala Yousafzai in her speech, to the UN, implies that the boys and girls are not being given the chance to have an education and if they did the children are afraid of the opportunity and at the same time persuading young people to be able to join her cause. She supports her claim by first thanking all the people that supported her during incident that happened in 2012 where she was shot in the head by a Taliban gunman and luckily made a huge recovery, then she mentions the education for boys and girls, and finally she talks about her ideas and pushes everyone to take action. She establishes a persuasive tone for boys and girls to be able to join her cause. Malala uses Ethos, Logos, Pathos and rhetorical devices to support her speech and make it effective for young people to assemble in her purpose.
Malala Yousafzai has made many claims for what she believes in. Those without a voice need to be heard. The taliban cannot quiet her. Nonviolence is one of the World’s greatest traditions. Education is one of the most important human rights. Yousafzai is able to support these claims with the way she speaks. She is splendid at using rhetoric, persuasive language with techniques like figures of speech. Malala Yousafzai uses repetition, pathos, and ethos to support her claims.

In the fall of 2012, a young Pakistani female was shot in the head by the Taliban while riding the bus home from school, but being shot was only one of the trails Malala Yousafzai was to overcome. Malala’s injuries were too great to be dealt with in hospitals in Pakistan; thus, she was transferred to England to undergo surgery. While in England Malala’s story became so popular that the United Nations heard of how she was shot and as a result, she had become an advocate for education; therefore, on July of 2013, at the age of sixteen, Malala, was invited to speak about her experience at the United Nation’s headquarters in New York. Her speech was intended to inform people of an epidemic that has invaded not only the Middle East but also
July 12nd 2013. Malala celebrated her 16th birthday. It was the day her first major speech held at the U.N after Taliban’s attempt to assassinate her for promoting education for females.

The Taliban shot Malala as a response to her receiving an education and advocating for an equal education for everyone. To help eliminate this issue, Malala has created an organization known as the Malala Fund, which helps provide an education for children and women in third-world countries. Life almost straight. Similar to a roller coaster, ups, downs, twists, and turns. One will rarely have a life the exact way they plan . That has to do with the obstacles that form in one’s path. One must decide whether they want to overcome them or just stop and turn around. Some people will help lead others where they need to go. People will always try to force others to fail. Not everything will be as planned. Life will not always prove straight.
