Introduction
“Our life is shaped by our mind; we become what we think. Suffering follows an evil thought as the wheels of a cart follow the oxen that draws it. Our life is shaped by our mind; we become what we think. Joy follows a pure thought like a shadow that never leaves (Siddhartha Gautama, n.d).” Siddhartha Gautama is recognized as the leader and the founder of the Buddhist religion. He was a prince in 5th century B.C.E that opted to give up all possessions and begin a life in the forest, seeking enlightenment. While living and meditating in the forest, underneath a large tree, he discovered the way to abolish suffering. Through this change in his life, he acquired important wisdom that shaped the formation of Buddhism. His teachings are the foundation of the religion, but even more than that, they are what I believe to be very vital in shaping yourself as a human being.
Reincarnation
One of the first instructions of the Buddha is that we are all reborn. What realm we are born into when we are reincarnated, all depends on our ranks of good and bad karma each time we meet our demise. If you spend your life trying to spread peace, kindness and doing worthy deeds, you will end up with good karma and be reincarnated into a higher realm of the fortunate. If you cause chaos and pain in your life, by killing, stealing, hurting others or something along those lines, then you will be reincarnated into one of the unfortunate realms. The highest realm you can reach is the realm of man, which is the one and only realm in which you can achieve enlightenment. Buddha teaches that all living beings have souls due to reincarnation, because while some may be reincarnated into a human, others may be reborn as animals. Once you reach nirvana,...

... be or who that person is. His teachings are taught to people for them to understand how to live a proper and respectable life, with as little suffering as possible. The Buddha seeks to help those in need and provide the answers to how to live a life as best as one possibly can. He teaches to be kind to others, to be generous, to not obtain too much greed over materialistic things, to understand that life isn’t meant to always be perfect, that death is natural and to do no evil. Those are just a few of the many lessons that Buddha shared over his lifetime. The Buddha’s knowledge is similar to the lessons in most religions and even in the everyday lives of people who are not religious. The lessons that Buddha taught, are essential in shaping one’s self into a healthy, kind and wise person, and also help people learn to live their life the best that they possibly can.
