Perdido Beach was a completely normal Californian town until the cloudy dome appeared and all of the residents over the age of fourteen disappeared. Lana's life went to hell the moment her grandfather disappeared from his pickup truck. They'd been heading home when out of nowhere, he vanished. There one minute, and then suddenly... Gone. She tried to control the truck, but despite her efforts, it drove off the road and down the hills. After what felt like forever, the truck came to a halt. Bruised, battered, and bloody, Lana clawed her way out of the vehicle. She'd broken multiple bones and was unable to defend herself. That's when the mountain lion decided it was best to attack. Lying helplessly on the ground, Lana was a sure goner. That is until her dog Patrick stepped in and protected her from the lion. That confrontation left the dog mortally wounded. He crawled back to her, slowly dying. Lana's heart broke for Patrick, and to comfort him, she fell asleep with her hand on him. When she woke the next morning, he wasn't dead. In fact, it was as if he'd never been attacked. That was when Lana realized she had an extraordinary gift. She had healed him with her bare hands. She began healing herself, and after a long process, she was as good as new. Alone and without shelter, Lana and Patrick began looking for a place to hole up in for safety. This was when they stumbled upon an abandoned shack. They also met up with a boy named Sam and his friends Astrid and Quinn. After a very brief introduction, they were attacked by a pack of coyotes that had developed a very rough ability to talk, and when one went for Sam's neck, Lana killed it and healed Sam. The group took Lana into town for protection and so that she could help heal the ki... ... middle of paper ... ...y was back to normal. Well, almost normal. As Gaia's horrific attacks continued, Caine knew that he'd have to bring out the big guns in order to stop them. He brought out the large missiles they'd been saving for an occasion just like this, and launched them at Gaia. Instead of killing her, the missiles only destroyed Orc, who had been fighting her. Caine knew that there was no possible way for them to simply fight her, so he made the ultimate sacrifice. He invited the spirit of Little Pete to use his body as a vessel. Pete was the only one who's power matched Gaia, and it was their last hope. Pete and Gaia squared off and in an explosion of lights, fought to the death. The rest of the town watched in awe as they battled, and just before Pete won and freed the town of Perdido Beach from the Gaiaphage's clutches, Lana felt the tingling buzz of the Tesseract up above.
During this time, Felicitas gave birth to a baby girl, who was taken away from her hours after her birth. The day before they were to be martyred, Perpetua had a dream of her battling a “savage Egyptian”, and proclaimed that she would battle the devil himself. The day of their execution, the soon-to-be martyrs are led into the amphitheater where they are to be killed by beast. They are first scourged by Gladiators, and then a boar, a bear, and a leopard are set on the men, a wild cow on the women. After the two were wounded by the animals, Perpetua and Felicitas gave each other the kiss of peace before they are put to the sword. Both are beheaded, and both became martyrs for their faith.

Her eyes were heavy, her body weak. As she crawled into the bathroom two feet away, Abby felt her body slowly succumbing to the numbness. All of her pain would be gone in less than 10 minutes, so why would she want to turn back? What about the senior trip Abby had planned with her best friend? What about the chair at the dinner table that would now be vacant? A couple of hours later Abby’s family came home from her little sister’s soccer game. Little did they know what they would find as they approached the top of the stairs. Her little sister, Ali, stood still as she looked down at her feet. There on the cold floor lay her big sister, her role model, and her super hero. Ali was crushed when she saw the pill bottle in her hand and the pale color of her skin. Her mom fell to her knees screaming and crying, wondering where she
The next morning, Maggie filed a police report about seeing the young boy in their house the previous night prior to her husband’s death. The police went to the Wilson’s house to investigate, but the boy was gone and there was no sign of any unusual activity. The three of them went back to their home where they mourned the loss of their dad and husband. The next night went smooth, they all stayed in the guest bedroom, avoiding the room where they had seen the young boy, and the room where Joe died. Two days later, at Joe’s funeral, Reagan spotted a young boy that looked like the boy she saw floating into her room that dreadful night. Reagan rushed over to her mom and Chandler to tell them what she saw. The night of the funeral, thunderstorms moved in and a big gust of wind blew a tree limb down onto the power lines adjacent to their house. This caused a power outage in the middle of the night followed by a loud lightning strike, which woke Maggie up. Suddenly an image appeared to be floating toward her. The shadow immediately made her think of the young boy they saw the other day. Before Maggie could call the police, the young boy strangled her to death. Her screams woke Reagan and Chandler up. They hid under the covers crying and hoping the young demon boy would go away. However,

After being bored for a few days, and it was our last day out here we decided to head to the park one last time. When we got there we didn’t see many cars, but it said the park was open. “Are you sure we want to do this after what happened?” John said nervously. Matt responded demandingly “We got to, we are going to be rich!” We were all nervous walking into the park knowing that there was a murder here. We were going through the woods, listening to the birds chirping, and the deer running…...and then it happened. I was the only one who made it out of the park that
As the car spun, all of my best memories played in my mind: my father teaching me about the solar system, the birth of my siblings, the first time I rode a bicycle, the day my parents decided to be together again, my graduation, the day I was notified I had won the Walton Scholarship, my first day in the United States, among others. Once Kaela, my roommate, and I, were able to leave the fuming car, we crawled to the edge of the road to lie on the ground and assess our injuries. Two ladies that were driving by, came to our rescue and took us to the hospital. During the entire ride to the hospital, as I struggled to remain conscious, I could not help but repeat, “Please Kaela, tell them not to send me back to Honduras, I need to help my family.”
It was a dark, rainy night. Anna was driving alone on the wet streets of Portland, Oregon to her parents’ house. Her windshield wipers were waving like crazy, and her headlights were not shining bright. When then she knew that all safety was lost, in this closed off forest, in my small car. The radio was screaming fun jazz music to lighten the mood. Though Anna was tired and weak wishing for the drive to be over. Little did she know her life was about to change, for the better and worse.
The reckless driver hit us straight on, then “Bang!” a loud noise resonated through the air, and abruptly my body flew out and hit the pavement of the road. Everything around me was simply a white haze for a few seconds after the impact. My body felt extremely heavy and the sharp pain throbbed throughout my face and body. Lying there on the rough asphalt, I faintly heard my mom and Carrie call out to me, “Sydney! Sydney! Are you okay? Answer me! Sydney!” I wanted I speak up and answer them, nonetheless, it was useless, my voice just wouldn’t make a sound. The desperation in Carrie’s and my mom’s voices reverberated to me across from where I was lying. My mom frantically ran up to my side and hugged me tightly in her arms. Blood was squirting out of her pinky, where the top of her finger had been severed. The places where my mom’s tears fell, stung my wounds, nevertheless, it was nothing compared to each little movements that caused the pains to electrify through my body severely. Every second was hell, the pain was just utterly agonizing and tormenting. Whether it was due to the pain or the exhaustion my body suffered, my mind slowly drifted off and I couldn’t keep my eyes open any longer. As my eyes gradually closed, the blazing siren seemed to have grown louder little by
There was an impending doom coming to the small town of Calamity. Unbeknownst to the citizens it would come firstly upon a church on the outskirts of a town. A few people were inside as the doom came closer. Preacher Tom was the first one in the church to sees what would haunt the town and was scared out of his wits. He pushes a young woman out of the doorway as he speeds into the church. He continues to bar the door and close up all of the windows as the surprised group stares on at him with suspicion. He dropped to his knees and prayed as a loud noise echoed through the building. The crowd began to scream as the windows rattled and the building swayed. All of a sudden, a whimper could be heard from the back side of the building. The sound was unmistakable, it was the tiny voice of little Lisa Cunningham. Mrs. Hamm hobbled quickly over to the door before anyone else could react. She threw the door open as Father Ted finally came to his senses. Lisa flung herself through the door into the arms of Mrs. Hamm. Father Ted lunged for the door and slammed his shoulder into it right before an unknown force bashed against the other side. Mrs. Hamm grasped the child as and attempted to console her as a sharp pain erupted in her breast. She looked down and saw a dark stain growing on her blue dress and jerked the child away. Everyone’s eyes went wide as they saw the scene unfolding before them. Lisa stood smiling; face covered in blood, and began to laugh hysterically. Mrs. Hamm was becoming hysterical as well, as she noticed that one side of her chest had become smaller than the other as a huge chunk had been bitten away by the child.
