Into The Wild Movie Analysis Essay

Into the Wild, a 2007 nonfiction film based on New York Times bestseller book written

by Jon krauker about a boy who leaves everything behind to live the aesthetic life. The film

directed by Sean Penn won ten awards including a Golden Globe award for best original song

and was nominated for over twenty awards including two academy awards for best supporting

actor and best film editing. The elements in this film such as music, sound, picture, and visual

effects create a great overall combination that compliment the beautiful storyline. A storyline

that evokes emotion, logic, philosophy, and ethics.

The film follows the story of main character Cristopher McCandless, a college graduate

who chooses to leave his conventional lifestyle

There are many theories on his death and the cause of his food depravation. One

being the poisonous reaction from the potato root he ate made him sick and unable to feed

himself. Another is the harsh Alaskan winter made it impossible to find edible living things

eventually starving to death. Either way I believe the way he died has no effect on the storyline

nor does is make the novel or film fiction.

This movie about a fearless young man succeeds in bringing out the adventurous side of the

audience, creating a sense of wonder and empathy, at the same time with a moral message that

every journey is full of obstacles and how bad extremisms can be. This and elements such as

sound, motion, picture, music, narrative technics, all make a perfect combination to create logical

and emotional response from the audience. But in the end Exploration and adventure are what

makes a man’s core, expands the mind, and creates a sense of peace and that’s what this film is

about. “Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn 't do
