Writing is an excellent practice because the benefits gained are essential to an individual’s success in a job, or just conveying their ideas through words. Within the semester we have written three major papers, and have rewritten two of those papers. In each paper I discovered new ways to get information, and have gained more experience in sculpting a paper. Obtaining this new knowledge of how to present my ideas in different writing styles will help me expand my range in how I can write, and essentially allow me to be better prepared for upcoming jobs following my college education. With this assignment we got to look deeper into his speech looking at his mechanics and seeing emotion in his tone. Before this assignment I had no idea of the impact his speech really had; noticing the logic in his argument, the credibility he had obtained, and the heartfelt sentences constructed together to change the hearts and minds where racism was at its peak. With the mechanics of this paper with slight grammar mistakes my main lessons learned were the right way to present a title whether it is in quotation marks or it is italicize titles. I also learned that if I decide to use a block quote to present or explain an idea it is important to record the line number of the quote from the work after the last period in the quote. Besides the grammar mistakes I also gained a true appreciation for Dr. King, seeing as his reputation had preceded him, that he could deliver such a speech that affected the nation the way it did. That within just a matter of a few years the majority of the nation would turn from racism. For my essay decided to discuss the similarities and differences in Protestant Christianity and Islam. After looking through the choices given to me, I decided that this comparison would fit me best because I myself am very devout in my faith so this topic fit me well. Going into this discussion I already had much knowledge on both, but I did end up doing much research on both, and it was very interesting to see why each religion believed the way they did. I believe for this paper even though I was not able to clearly state which religion I agreed with more, I do believe it was good training for me for in later life when giving your opinion is not best idea for a situation. Obviously, with believing in a religion I am biased towards a side when it comes to religion, but it is interesting to discuss religions in a way where I can look at the origins, practices, and basic beliefs, and actually talk about them with going straight pointing out why do not believe them to be true. This was a very enjoyable paper for me, because even with the emphasis in research, and making sure there is factual evidence to prove myself, getting to discuss on a topic that I hold close to myself was fun and easy to write about. I am glad I got the chance to right a paper like this, and I do believe the lessons learned in this paper have contributed to me more as a
