Life can end in a matter of seconds. My life flashed right before my eyes when I was ran over on my bike by a taxi who ran a red light. Not knowing how badly I was hurt, I knew right then and there my life was going to change for better or worse. This is when I knew I wanted to help those who were struggling to fight back. As an avid bike rider just going to work at 6 am, following all of the green lights I thought I had nothing to worry about on what I figured as an average day on July 31st of 2013. I am a full time student studying business law, a part-time worker as a Building Manager, and an Arizona State Soccer club member who is a co-captain during my second year. Not knowing this day would forever change my life, I woke up and got ready just like I did every day. As I was approaching the middle of the side walk I noticed this taxi from VIP taxi was about to run the red light so instantaneously I swerve to my right and the taxi driver tries swerving to her left but it was too late. My bike and lower body had already been ran over by her front and back right tires. Not knowing how badly I was injured, pedestrians came running over to me in order to help me up and out of the way. Before I even approached the sidewalk I heard loud screaming and crying. Not knowing where this was coming from, I figured that the taxi must have hit somebody else after hitting me. After listening to what was happening I recognized that the taxi cab was stopped in the intersection and it was the driver who was screaming and yelling. She was sitting outside of her car on the opposite side to where I could see her shrieking “I killed him! I am going to lose my job!” I had not yet comprehended everything that is going on and later acknowledged that I was the only person hit in this accident
