Do you know what human trafficking is? How does it affect our society and what can we do to stop these kinds of activities that have been held in our community? Human trafficking is modern day slavery. It has been happening currently in many countries around the world, especially in Asian countries. Many people have been victimized by this activity, mainly the women and children under the age of 18 years. Poor and vulnerable, those people who are in trapped are the victim of this trafficking. There are thousands and thousands of people who have been victims of trafficked in the countries like Cambodia, China, Fiji, Indonesia, Myanmar, Pakistan, India, Papua New Guinea as well as Thailand (Street). In those countries, some people take human trafficking and involving themselves in the sex industry is an occupation for them but there are other people who were forced to do those things even when they do not want to get involved in it. As the sex industry and human trafficking increases, the rate of people getting HIV AIDS will increase too. According to the research, it showed that “The sex industry has not been ignored in the battle against AIDS” (Street). In East Asia, the country like Thailand have start educating the society about how they can get those sex diseases and what can be done in order to prevent it. If they have start giving the information about these disease then the chance of getting HIV AIDS will decrease, which will help the educate the society and the society can help other society in which we can make this disappear from our nation. According to the 2008 statistics from the United States Department of State on Human Trafficking, it shows that in East Asia and Pacific, there are 1083 prosecutions and 643 were convicted (Human).
