Going to college is something that has been drilled into my brain by the public education system since I was in first grade. They obviously did a phenomenal job because here I am, a high school senior, applying to various colleges and universities trying to find the right fit. There are many reasons why I want to go to college, but there is one reason above all others, and that is that I want to be able to share my passion of music with others in hopes of sparking a similar passion inside of them. In order to help spark that passion inside of others I must accomplish my first goal of obtaining my bachelor 's degree in music education and gaining my teaching endorsement for K-12. I intend on accomplishing this goal by attending the University of Nebraska at Omaha starting the fall semester of 2016. After attending UNO for 4 to 5 years I will begin my search for a high school instrumental music employment opportunity. These strengths have allows for me to flourish in school and the activities I participate in. Along side these strengths are my weaknesses that have allowed me to encounter some learning opportunities. Ive gained knowledge from these weaknesses. Ive learned how to evaluate a situation and gauge how assertive I need to be in order to get a group to accomplish a task. It is the fuel that feeds my ever-growing hunger to dance. Living by this motto will help me achieve my goal of becoming not just a professional dancer, but also an inspiration to others. My strong extracurricular background provides for a solid base, serving as a great steppingstone as I reach closer and closer to making my dream a reality.
The life I have had so far has taught me a lot about academic and life skills; from when I was about six to the age I am now. I am always learning and happy to learn new things. I might not know what I want right now, but I do know that I want something for my life; I want to go to college, so I could make the future I see happen. I grew up in Yazoo City the middle out of nine children, and like the rest of my siblings I was almost entirely homeschooled. Music was possibly the most important subject, which incidentally happened to be the only one my mother didn’t teach. While my parents never actually said it, we all knew that it was a given that we would be taking piano lessons from around fourth grade to graduation. But when I was little I had zero interest in piano. I –for no reasons I can remember anymore- was very draw to violin and tried my hardest –without actually coming out and asking- to get my parents to let me take violin. As a six year-old my idea of “subtle hinting” was cutting out a violin shape from cardboard, and using a pencil as a bow to show my mom how well I “played”. In the end when I turned eight my
Education is one of the most important heritage that a father can give to his son. Education is the greatest inheritance a parent can leave to the son, being educated is not to acquire knowledge but more than that it be lack of ignorance. Someone once said that “I do not read for more intelligence but rather to be less ignorant”, these words have a world between them, because many people study for a degree not for gain knowledge. Recent studies show that sixty-two percent of Americans have the opportunity to go to college in 2017. We need well-educated people to do difficult and important jobs. The number of people who can go to college should be 100 percent. Free college tuition will strengthen America and help increase the number of students who can go to college.
I grew up constantly seeing my parents suffer from choices they made when they were freshly graduated from high school. They always told me to go to college so I wouldn’t have to suffer from the same mistakes they made and I was going to do just that. I decided to take on the student loan debt and continue my education because I refused to settle immediately in life.
In the next year I would like to attend college and within the next three years I would like to be done with my college classes and be an Registered Nurse (RN). After becoming a RN I have thought about going back to college and getting either a doctorate or take classes to become a surgical tech. I would like to start working in a hospital to get extra experience with the healthcare system and to also help further my education. Also, working in a hospital can help me figure out my area of interest. I have a couple ideas already, but the hands-on activity is what will help me decide at last. Although I am more likely to attend a community college than other students, scholarships are still important to me to help cover the cost of the classes
Why am I really in college? I believe this is a question that a majority of students ask themselves on a daily basis. College can be a whirlwind of stress and deadlines, but all college students put themselves through this hectic adventure for one reason: a career. In today’s society a college degree is most often than not required to find a stable job, which is what an abundance of college students are seeking. In order to get the career we are dreaming of, we have to put ourselves through college and acquire the knowledge we need to succeed in our career path.
Recent statistics show that 40 percent of americans have finished with an associates degree or even higher. While 22 percent actually attended college but failed to graduate. Those numbers alone are just tremendously low for how such a big country. Getting an education is so important in today’s society, the main reason for this is to get job opportunities, you meet new connections while in college, and you have a higher chance at a better career. Why do I want to attend college? Well, I want to attend college because I want to play college football, I want to become an occupational therapist, and I want to make my parents proud.
Growing up in a household where a mother did not finish high school and a father did not finish elementary is not an ideal up brining for any child. I grew up emphatically impoverished for the majority of my life and my parents tell me they attribute that to the life choices they made in their youth. Today I use these circumstances not to debilitate my confidence, but to motivate me to strive for what I once imagined insurmountable.
The reasons I would love to attend college are because of both personal experience, and because I want to reach the full potential God has gifted me with. Throughout my life I have been faced with many struggles regarding my health. When I was young, I loved playing sports and dreamed of competing on high school teams. The Lord, however, had other plans for my life. As a result of my health struggles I have been attending physical therapy consistently for the past six years. Through the years, I have seen the miraculous ways the therapists have helped not only me, but all of the patients that walked through their door. For example, I watched them turn a workout center into a Star Wars lair in order to inspire a 5 year old boy to fight through the hardships of his heart surgery recovery. Through the inspiration they hoped to pass on to him, they inspired me to try to make the same difference. Seeing firsthand the affect that a physical therapist can make has opened my eyes to see what I really want to do with my life. College is a very important thing. If you go to college you will most likely get better pay in your career. Also, with a college degree, you have more opportunities. I believe that everyone should go to college. If you don’t go to college and just go into some job and that fails then you have no backup plan. A college graduate is more likely to be offered employment than another who didn’t attend college, if you have a college degree you will make more money in your lifetime than someone who doesn’t have a degree, if you are considering having children having a college degree is very beneficial to them, you have a higher chance of having better health yourself, college is very beneficial, and if you go to college you will have a better social
As the first person in my family to go to college, I have set many goals for myself. I am currently maintaining an above 3.5 GPA and will continue to work hard at keeping that standard because being successful in school is very important to me. At Marshalltown Community College I have worked hard to make sure I am creating a positive path for myself, and as I move onto a four-year university, and into a profession, I will proceed to make a path that I am happy with and proud of.

I want to be successful in this life that I had been given and to become the women that God has created me to be. Graduating High School was the first step that I needed to accomplish before obviously moving on to the next step in my education.
