Health is a critical indicator of society 's well being and it is affected by many factors, such as quality and access to the health care as well as individual 's behavior and live style. Behavioral risk factors such as tobacco use, diet, and physical activities influence the health and health care of the United States population. Unhealthy diet with high saturated and trans fats has been linked to heart disease, and too mush salt (sodium) can cause high blood pressure. Physical inactivity can increase chances of obesity, high blood pressure, diabetes, as well as heart disease. Furthermore, it has been proven that tobacco use damages blood vessels, which increases the chances of heart disease and heart attack. Moreover, tobacco use increases the risk of acquiring a chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and lung cancer (CDC. 2015).
Cancer, diabetes, heart disease, hypertension, and pulmonary conditions are chronic diseases that cut down life expectancy and increase the cost of health care. In 2003 the cost of treatment for chronic health conditions, without accounting for the secondary health problems totaled to $277 billion. Afflicted employees and their caregivers often miss work or unable to perform their duties to their best abilities due to their health conditions. In 2003 the economic loss from lost workdays and decreased employee productivity totaled to over $1 trillions. It is predicted that chronic condition will dramatically increase in the United States in the next 20 years and with improvements in prevention and management in chronic disease 40.2 million cases of chronic conditions can be avoided in 2023, which will reduce the economic loss sharply by 27% by 2023, which will result in $905 billion that would c...

Programs that are far-reaching create culture that supports not only participants’ healthy living but also their family members (Hanson, 2016). Besides workplace health promotion and interventions physicians’ advise are still a valuable took in elimination of risk behavioral factor. People are highly inclined to start smoking cessation or changing diet by making healthier choices on recommendation of their doctors almost immediately (Knickman, Konver 2015).
Based on these findings we can conclude that health programs at workplace and primary physicians intervention have wide effect on the community and society as a whole.
