Euthanasia is a Greek word that means ' 'good death ' '. Euthanasia is the act of ending the life of a patient in order to stop the suffering of a painful incurable disease or in irreversible coma. It is known as ' 'merciful killing ' '. According to ' 'the Euthanasia debate ' ' (Oct 2001), Euthanasia is defined as ' 'a deliberate intervention undertaken with the express intention of ending a life to relieve intractable suffering ' '. Euthanasia is legal in some countries like the Netherlands, Canada, Colombia, Belgium and Luxembourg. There are five forms of Euthanasia. Active Euthanasia is when specific steps are taken to cause the patient 's death. Passive Euthanasia is when the doctors stop doing what keeps the patient alive like disconnecting the machines or not giving them the drugs. Voluntary Euthanasia is when the patient requests an action to be taken to end their life. Involuntary Euthanasia is without the patient 's consent and is always requested by a relative or the doctor when the patient is a young baby or in coma or brain damaged. Assisted suicide is when the doctor provides the patient the means to end their own life. The controversy of this topic is whether Euthanasia should be legalized or not. (August 2012) As a conclusion, Euthanasia should be legalized in our society because people have the right to choose what they want for themselves, It 's the only way to relieve their pain and It reduces the number of acts of suicide. Euthanasia gives the people the right to die as well as the right to live the life they want. We should have mercy for the suffering people and not refuse to end their pain. Euthanasia helps people to live and die with dignity. It shouldn 't be considered as murder but as an absolute necessity in urgent situations.
