Realism was a term that was first created in the 18th century to give writer a more powerful and modern insight when they write their play or stories. Realism has been used in literature to give audiences a connection by giving illustrations of everyday activities, and common life events. “Realism represents the world as it is” (Eagleton). It gives audiences and readers a way to connect to the story or play, once they find the precious and valued purpose in the story it is easier to connect to. Realism used to just be a term but now it is a work of art that has been used in many plays and stories since the beginning of time. Realism is not something that you are able to look at and determine if it is real but you have to connect to it. It is a creative and contemporary term that is still being used today to give more of an insight to a certain story or play. Realism did not only contribute to the development of literature but also to its music, too. Realism contributed to music in a prodigious way. It has developed into just beats and instruments to lyrics that have a meaning and story behind it that represent real life. At first music was just sounds and beats that got people dancing and off their feet, now music is a way people are able to express themselves and share their emotions. Throughout the centuries music has developed into something more than just sounds and rhythm but to a work of art and a way to express the truth. Music is the way people are now expressing themselves. Realism began to contribute into that because without the knowledge of what realism really was artists were unable to contribute music that will be known as realistic.
