I recently visited Thailand a few months back. It was most probably the best trip so far this year. We went to the typical Thai touristy places every tourist goes to when visiting Thailand; The Grand Palace, The Temples and I also visited Chiangmai. I have visited many Asian countries in the past. I go back to Korea to visit my family every now and again but I’ve never been to Thailand.
Bangkok is a really easy place to get around. There are loads of different types of transportation. The most interesting one would be the tuktuk which is similar to the rickshaws in India. These tuktuks however, don’t have a meter on them, so the driver might charge you a really high price and Thai people don’t usually speak English. I’ve read many things about this online so I figured, might as well learn some basic Thai before going to Thailand. I was surprised when the taxi asked me “where you go?”. So I thought that maybe only taxi drivers knew how to speak English, but then I realized that many Thai people in Thailand know how to speak English even the street vendors!
I also learnt that Thai have their own number. Each number has its own character. Here are the number from 1-9 and 0 in Thai.

I met up with a friend in Thailand who took me around. Whenever we walked into different places he would tell me not to speak. He told me that entry fees for foreigners are higher than the entry fees for Thais. The way they did this was by putting the Thai entry fees in Thai numbers and the foreigner entry fees in the normal numbers that we know. So being the ...

...oing back to the topic on rice, in Chiangmai, the staple diet is actually sticky rice which is very different in texture. Obviously from the name is it sticky but also more glutinous and filling. In chiangmai, people eat with their hands! Reminds me a lot of Laos and India. Looking back on the Loas trip last year, I feel like Chiangmai and Loas have a lot in common. So if you have been to Loas and like it there, you should also visit Chiangmai in Thailand.
Overall, Thailand was a successful trip! The people were so kind. There are probably many things that I have left out in this blog post today, but I just wanted to give you guys an overview of how my experience was. If you want to see some of the footage that I took while I was there, the link to that video will be down below. I will update and talk to you soon! Till then, live your life like there’s no tomorrow.
