The Great Gatsby: Imagery of Colors F. Scott Fitzgerald used the imagery of colors in his masterpiece The Great Gatsby. The colors are used very frequently as symbols, and the hues create atmosphere in different scenes of the book. White is a clean and fresh color, but the author shows how it can be tainted as well. Next, yellow illustrates the downfall of moral standards of the people of West Egg. Lastly, green, the most dominant color in the book, symbolizes wealth and Gatsby's unattainable dream. To Gatsby, Daisy represents innocence and purity; however, Fitzgerald uses different shades of white to veil her corruption. Daisy is solely described as "dressed in white", she powders her face white, and she mentions her "white girlhood". The millionaire describes this perfect princess figure to be "high in a white palace the king's daughter, the golden girl." On the other hand, Fitzgerald portrays the way of life in West Egg as a wretched place when "four solemn men dressed in suits are walking along the sidewalk with a stretcher on which lies a drunken woman in a white evening dress. Her hand, which dangles over the side, sparkles cold with jewels. Gravely the men turn it at a house - the wrong house. But no one knows the woman's name, and no one cares." Yellow stands out as a symbol of corruption and decay. Materialism has corrupted the citizens of East and West Egg because they center everything on money. When Gatsby entertains this wealthy class, the orchestra plays "yellow cocktail music". Even Gatsby believes that he can win Daisy back with his money - thus he is described as wearing a "caramel-colored suit" when he lies about his past to Nick. The most important symbol, however, is Gatsby's car. The car becomes the main topic of conversation among the townspeople after it kills Myrtle and a witness specified this "death car" to be yellow. Fitzgerald used green most frequently to symbolize Gatsby's love for Daisy Buchanan. Daisy rejected Gatsby because "rich girls don't marry poor boys", so her philosophy compelled him to become wealthy. Gatsby described Daisy's voice as "full of money" and he acquired millions of green dollars in the hope that Daisy would love him again. Also, Gatsby moved into his mansion so that he could live near the Buchanans, and at night the millionaire watches "a single green light, minute and far away, that might have been at the end of a dock.
Ethical Behaviour includes obeying the law and specific regulatory rules (CII, 2013), it is necessary that Paraplanners are aware of relevant laws and regulations including: the Financial Conduct Authority’s Principles for Business and Statements of Principle for Approved Persons (CII, 2013) and the Chartered Insurance Institute Code (CII’s code) (CII, 2014) as well as the Data Protection Act 1998 (Data Protection GOV.UK, 2013), Money Laundering Regulations (Office of Fair Trading, 2009) and the Financial Conduct Authority’s six Treating Customers Fairly Outcomes (FCA, 2013). Paraplanners must act with the highest ethical standards and integrity as well as acting in the best interests of each clients (CII, 2014). It is important that paraplanners are aware of the data protection act as clients have a right to expect complete confidentiality about their personal lives such as income and identity (CII, 2013). If paraplanner has a role to play in adviser charging, then paraplanner need to be aware of the anti-money laundering rules, a paraplanner is most likely to be in charge of implementing these rules (CII, 2013). Paraplanners are very much involved in the identification procedures for client, by making sure there are copies of “acceptable” identity kept on file, therefore the paraplanner needs to have received the appropriate training on verification and identification of clients (CII, 2013)
Albert Einstein’s discoveries and theories have had a positively enormous effect on the world. Some of Einstein’s biggest impacting discoveries and theories are the theories of Special and General relativity, the Theory of Relativity, Brownian motion, the discovery of the photon, and Einstein’s creation of the equation E = MC^2. Perhaps Einstein’s most beneficial discovery is his formulation of E = MC^2 which is crucial for space-flight and can help today’s scientist in gathering knowledge about our universe.
Harry S. Truman was born on May 8th, 1884 on the farmlands of Lamar, Missouri. He was given the middle name of S because both of his grandfather’s first names started with the letter S. In 1890, the Truman family moved to Independence, Missouri, where Harry went to school and was a very smart student. (Generally speaking, paragraphs should be 4-5 sentences in length. On occasion, shorter lengths are okay.)
Harry Truman moved up the ranks starting as a young soldier in the war and eventually becoming a commander of a Field Artillery unit in France (Jenkins 65) .After the war was over, Harry opened up a men’s furnishing store with one of his friends from the army. The store didn’t work out and after a few years Truman was asked to run for judge of the city Jackson Co., Missouri. This started his political career. In 1934 Truman was elected into the U.S senate. Over time, Truman became a well-respected politician and Roosevelt chose him to run with him in the 1944 Presidential election. They won the election by a landslide. Truman ended up being Vice President for a mere 82 days due to the death of FDR and then Truman became the 33rd President of the United States (http://millercenter.org/).
Throughout Albert Einstein’s lifetime he accomplished many amazing things that have an effect on people today. For example, in 1905, “often called as Einstein’s “miracle year”, he published four papers in the Annalen der Physik, each of which would alter the course of modern physics” (Michio,Kaku 13). Throughout Einstein’s four books, he “applied the quantum theory to light in order to explain the photoelectric effect, offered the first experimental proof of the existence of atoms, laid out the mathematical theory of special relativity, and proved the first mechanism to explain the energy source of the Sun and other stars”(13). Throughout 1905-1915 Einstein began to realize that his theory for relativity was flawed, because “it made no mention of gravitation or acceleration” (19). “In November of 1915, Einstein finally completed the general theory of reality” (20); “in 1921 he won the Nobel Prize in Physics” (Belanger, Craig. 1).
The Great Gatsby is full of symbolism, colors, for example. Throughout the book the author uses them to represent different themes of the novel. Some of these colors are white, yellow, grey, green, pink, red and blue. However, I picked white and green for my commentary because I think these colors have a special meaning different from the others. White is mainly used to describe the character’s innocence, fakeness, and corruption. While green represents Gatsby’s hopes, ambitions, and dreams. In addition, sometimes green symbolizes the jealousy of certain characters.
...isting the help. The negative attitudes towards seeking help now escalate into bigger issues to include possible criminal mischief. It is clearly evident that these courts are here to stay. I truly believe that any veteran, who voluntarily risks their lives to serve and protect their country, definitely deserves to receive assistance.
A year later, Einstein theorized the concept of gravitational waves, although he never proved it. A century later, in 2016, scientists finally proved the theory. Even long after his death, Einstein’s research is still influencing new scientific breakthroughs.
...l Hawthorne's rhetorical strategies are of great importance to the novel. While some strategies are used to emphasize a certain event, others are meant to foreshadow one. His rhetorical strategies help to illustrate a unification and connection between occasions, which, when standing alone, may not seem as significant to the reader. Hawthorne's foreshadowing serves as a mitigation, because the reader will know what to expect in the impending chapters; their surprise will be stifled due to the previously attained knowledge. Therefore, Hawthorne uses rhetorical devices to foreshadow and alleviate a reader's reaction.
The great gatsby has many color with different meanings, throughout the novel. Some of the colors are white, green, blue and gold. These colors involve a few of the same people, however they do not mean the same thing.
Early in the novel, Nick catches Gatsby reaching out to a green light. “I glanced seaward-- and distinguished nothing except a green light, minute and far away, that might have been the end of the dock” (26). This is a representation of Gatsby’s hopes and dreams. The green light is telling him to go for it. It influences him to continue fighting for Daisy. The green light also means envy. Everything Gatsby wants is across from him. Daisy lives in a mansion with her husband Tom, who are right across the water from Gatsby’s house. Gatsby is longing for Daisy’s love. Another way Fitzgerald uses green is to describe Gatsby’s future wealth; his hope for a new life or new beginning. “It was James Gatz who had been loafing along the beach that afternoon in a torn green jersey…” (104). Before Gatsby became wealthy he was poor. His parents were hardworking, but they were “unsuccessful farm people” (104). Once Gatsby turned seventeen, he decided to runaway, later meeting Dan Cody. Dan Cody was a wealthy man who hired Gatsby. At the time, Gatsby was known as James Gatz. As he became more wealthier, his name changed as well. It went from “James Gatz”, “Jay Gats”, and to just “Gatsby”. After Cody passes away, to keep Gatsby’s wealth, he starts working as a bootlegger. Later in the novel, we also find more envy and the motive to go for their hopes and dreams that go with the color
Prior to the work of Max Planck and Albert Einstein, classical theory was the predominant scientific thinking. However, it eventually became evident that classical theory was unable to explain the occurrence of certain phenomenon observed in experimental data – in particular blackbody radiation and the photoelectric effect. The works of both Planck and Einstein have led to the development of quantum theory and contributed greatly to society’s understanding. As Planck and Einstein were both affected by the two World Wars, their work also played a role in politics. Einstein was an activist for world peace and believed that scientific research should be removed from social and political forces, and instead focused on the pursuit of knowledge and understanding. On the other hand, Planck was very patriotic and supported the rise of the Nazi regime. He believed that the purpose of science was to support a social and political agenda. During World War II, Planck remained in Germany conducting research directed to the war effort and faithful to the aims of the Nazi doctrine, while Einstein left Germany for the United States of America.
To many teens, turning sixteen is a rite of passage. In most states, this is the age when young people become eligible for sixteen year olds to attain their driver’s license. Adolescents see this as the beginning of their child’s independence and freedom, but many adults feel that this is dangerous and a deadly time for many teenage drivers. Statistics show that young drivers are more likely to speed, run red lights, and behave recklessly behind the wheel than more mature and experienced drivers. Many experts agree that this kind of behavior accounts for the thousands of teens that are killed every year in car accidents. In fact, according to the National Center for Injury Prevention and Control, teens are four times more likely to crash than are older drivers. This has caused many to question what can be done to keep drivers safe. The minimum age for attaining a driver’s license should be increased to eighteen years old due to the numerous downfalls of driving at a young age; these include disturbances on the road, peer pressure, and the underdevelopment of the brain. A growing number of people feel that the only way to truly prevent tragedy is to raise the legal driving age. Most teens, and even some parents, believe in this theory, nut many people feel that such action is necessary. A number of states in the United States have already raised the minimum age a teen must be to acquire a full, unrestricted license, meaning that many young drivers must be accompanied by an adult with a license. These states use graduated licensing programs that put limitations on young drivers. The programs restrict teens from driving late at night or carrying other teenage passengers until they have logged a certain number of hours driving under t...

Having shown interest in the field of science since such a young age, Albert Einstein pursued a career in physics and mathematics. By doing so, he left a great impact on the world of science and created a legacy with his many theories. One of these theories, the Mass-Energy Equivalence, left one of the greatest impacts on science and has become one of the most well-known scientific theories. The Mass-Energy Equivalence theory was developed by Albert Einstein and thoroughly explains how mass and energy work together, as well as contributing to the development of hospital diagnostics and space technology.
