a) The global issue raised in this article is about the small terrorist group Al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb rapidly growing trying to become a dominant terrorist group. AQUIM serves as a younger sibling to Al Qaeda, and is often forgot about when talking about who the powerhouse terrorist groups. Zhao says that the U.S. has spent over a million dollars fighting against Al Qaeda in the Middle East, but hasn’t even paid attention to what AQUIM is up to. AQUIM is a Mali-based organization that was formed in the early 1990’s and eventually allied with Al Qaeda in 2003 to enhance their organization to become stronger. This organization has bases along the Mediterranean coast, Niger, Mali, and Mauritania. The organization has shifted away from Algeria to the Saharan and Sahel because Algeria’s military is increasingly stronger. AQUIM have been involved in large scale bombings of Algerian cities, and have put their mark on this territory. This geographical shift may let AQUIM become a legitimate threat in the African region. Experts say that AQUIM has the potential to position itself as a launching pad for international terrorist operations, but Zhao thinks otherwise. Zhao believes that AQUIM will not outgrow its isolated attacks in the region because of “internal fragmentation” within the organization.
b) Jeffrey Zhao uses empirical evidence to support his arguments on the upcoming dangerous terrorist group. He explains the different activities AQUIM have been doing to show that they are becoming a serious threat to Africa. 4) This issue has triggered the United States, especially since AQUIM has ties with Al Qaeda. Experts say the best strategy to deal with this group is to work with other countries in the region to counter the violent extremism. Algeria has allowed support from the United States and France. AQUIM has extended their organization by attempting to take over more territory in Mali, but with the French military being deployed, Zhao believes that no serious threat will be occurring. If something happens where AQUIM does make a serious threat, getting more countries involved to halt their attacks will help out tremendously.
I would follow what Principal Milhoviak did, which is contact my discipline team and get their points of view. Prior to that, I would need to understand the main problem. It sounded like he did that by talking with the sister and getting her story. This is the first step, understanding the situation. The next step is formulating a solution on how to handle the situation. This is where getting other people involved was a great idea. Principals know they cannot do it alone so they need to have a team, especially in these types of situations. The problem was that team offered many suggestions. As a principal I would listen to all of them and also refer to the school handbook. In this case, since the student is not in his fourth period, I would call for the brother and sister back to the office until parents are reached. As a principal the priority is finding the student who made the threat and keeping the victims safe until parents are reached and the team decides what to do next.

Nonetheless, it is evident that Al-Qaida is unusual in terms of using terrorism to influence the rise of unity rather than trying to overthrow a standing state. For the purpose of instigating a pan-Islamic revolutionary movement, Al-Qaida tries to unite all Islamic people under one state to develop umma, or Muslim community. The logic of Al-Qaida remained that if their “revolutionaries” could illicit a reaction from the powerful US state, resulting in oppression of the middle-eastern region, that Al-Qaida could, as a result, unite all Muslims to counter this suggested oppression. Although the end goal of Al-Qaida clear failed, it does suggest the organization’s attempt at implementing categorical terrorism.
For approximately the past three decades, a terrorist group has come to plague the world with its activities (Gunaratna, 2002). This group is known as Al Qaeda. Al Qaeda, when translated means “The Base”. It is a terrorist organization that seeks to remove western influence from the Middle East and spread its radical Islamic views. Al Qaeda’s most prominent leader was Osama bin Laden, until his death during a raid upon his compound in Pakistan. The Al Qaeda’s motivation stems primarily from extreme and deeply rooted religious beliefs. Their most used method of attack is through suicide bombers and improvised explosive devices. This organization has also used chemical warfare and at this time is believed to still actively seek to utilize chemical and biological agents as means to battle.
When the word bullying is brought up, one always pictures in his or her mind a big angry boy, who picks on other small helpless children. What some don’t realize is that bullying comes hand in hand with popularity, likeability, and peer acceptance. Children are heavily influenced by other kids his or her age, as the old saying goes, “But mom Jimmy gets to stay up past 10, why can’t I?” According to Miranda Witvliet, to understand children’s peer group affiliation, you need to be able to examine children naturally occurring groups resemble each other on bullying, likeability, and perceived popularity. To be accepted by a popular group of kids, others would follow in his or her footsteps and will bully others, even if the child knew it were wrong. Schools around the country have constructed anti-bullying campaigns and have programs setup to teach students, teachers, and family members what to do to prevent bullying. In an article by Jennifer Dignan, she explains how Stomp Out Bullying and The National Center for Bullying Prevention are two organizations working to put an end to the epidemic. To help prevent bullying people need to understand how the victims and the bullies are affected by other peers.
For decades, Uganda’s economy has suffered through disappointing economic policies and instabilities. These setbacks have been put forth by a chronically unreliable government, leaving it as one of the world’s poorest countries. Not only is it already hard to be a teenager, but having to deal with constant teasing and harassment is just something no one needs. There is a point in life where bullying can become so terrifying that students will rather stay at home than have to face their bully. Darnell “Dynasty” Young is a 17 year old gay teen who has gone through every possible way to stop his bullies from harassing him. His mother has tried everything but hasn’t been able to put a stop to it. Until one day, Young’s mother bought Darnell a stun gun. His mother told him to bring it to school and when the bullies began to torment him to take it out. He did just that, he did not actually shoot anyone he just waved it up in the air to intimidate his bullies. He not only got suspended but he also got arrested, yet the six boys teasing him and calling him names received no punishment whatsoever. (CNN) Young is one of the many kids that go through this type of abuse in a place where they should feel safe. This is an example of the school failing to do anything to prevent this kind of behavior, even after the parents try to intervene. This is also a great example of parents failing to implement high behavior standards by enforcing them to retaliate. Parents should be there to advice a peaceful way of resolving this in a non violent way not give them the weapon. By implementing prevention programs such as activities that help fight bullying can ultimately lead to the end of this horrific thing some kids face each day.
Al-Qaeda Introduction Al Qaeda is a terrorist organization established in Peshawar, Pakistan, between 1988 and 1989 by Osama bin Laden and his teacher Abullah Yusuf Azzam. Al-Qaeda is an international terrorist network that is considered the top terrorist threat to the United States. Al Qaeda is seeking to get rid of all westerns from Muslim territory and replace their own Islamic regime. They are a group of people who work together to plan acts of terrorism against Muslims and non-Muslims especially in the United States. Al Qaeda believes that they are fighting a holy war against the enemy of their religion.

In sports today, the stakes of a game are higher than ever. This causes all those invested in the sport to become on edge. Although this may cause some beneficial effects in the game, there are still a few downsides to it. One such downside would be the bullying of athletes from their very own coaches. That’s right, the intensity of sports causes some coaches to take drastic measures to make their chances of winning greater, even if said measures are detrimental to the confidence and mentality of their players.
The long-standing border conflict between the African nations of Eritrea and Ethiopia greatly contribute to the overall destabilization in the Horn of Africa (HOA). The United States (US) and Great Britain have historically appreciated the strategic importance of Ethiopia, and the US offered its support by attempting to broker long-term treaties in order to end the conflicts (Lyon, 2006). Despite these efforts the region remains in flux; many believe Eritrea is providing support to Al-Shabab. Eritrea is currently subject to United Nations (UN) sanctions because of their suspected ties to Al-Shabab and other human rights violations (Van Kemenade, 2012). This instability, combined with Eritrea’s and Ethiopia’s involvement with various sects in Somalia, is a threat to US national security and is costing the US and others in the international community large amounts of money in humanitarian aid (Lyon, 2006).

Terrorist organizations have been committing atrocities against innocent civilians throughout the world for hundreds of years. Terrorism has evolved in many different forms and from various motivations such as religious protest movements, political revolts, and social uprisings. Regardless of the motives for terror, the problem is the financing of terrorism and terrorist organizations themselves. Recent global terrorist attacks using high technology and extensive networks have shown that money is essential to provide the means behind all terrorist activities. Individual terrorists plan terrorist operations and require resources to live, prepare, and implement their plans. The use of money laundering and financial support schemes are the root of the cause. If money laundering were curtailed or even eliminated, and financial supporters of terrorism were identified terrorism would decrease dramatically. To achieve these goals would take monumental efforts. The United States, United Nations and all sovereign nations would need to take cooperative action that has never been accomplished. Terrorism, its' history, concepts, reasoning, methods, and financial roots are object of this research.
Bullying does not have a standard definition. Bullying can be anything from calling someone else names, beating them up just for the fun of it, to texting or messaging them on the internet or any mobile device. Any person can be the victim of bullying, not just children. Bullying causes many issues, physically, emotionally, and mentally, not only for the victim, but for their entire families as well. Bullies have many different reasons as to why they start bullying someone else. The actions done to the victim leaves them with only a few options on how to stop being bullied. How they handle it is always different.
