Willowy Mom is a company that produces breastfeeding covers and was founded in 2014 by Ms. Michelle Rofe. Michelle Rofe’s motivation behind creating this company was evident in this statement, “All the market had to offer was practical but rather ugly covers.” She recognized that the market for breastfeeding covers weren’t fashionable. Her solution to this problem was to produce 100% silk and stylish Italian designed breastfeeding overs in the United States. Willowy Mom’s product can be purchased on her website and is currently being promoted on Chic Mommy Blog, Stroller Traffic, Mama Circle, and Facebook.

The greatest and most necessary factor within individual cultures for Willowy Mom’s product to thrive is support for breastfeeding within communities. The range of attitudes on public breastfeeding is wide, to say the least. In certain parts of the Middle East women concealed from top to bottom can be seen nursing their babies on a park bench, while some mothers in halter tops wouldn’t dream of nursing in public. In some countries such as the U.S., babies are predominantly bottle-fed because breastfeeding mothers are regularly requested to leave public places while advertisements with exposed breasts can be seen everywhere. In traditional societies, breastfeeding is generally considered to be the norm. Although public breastfeeding in the U.S. is a heated topic of debate, forty-five states have established laws to allow women the freedom to breastfeed in any private or public location. Islamic law requires feeding until age two, and some consider Jewish law to require it also. In Jordan, women stay inside with their babies for nearly a year. In certain traditional cultures, women have sometimes been segregated from the rest of society so the issue of public breastfeeding will not need to come up.
