Did you know only 24% of women enter S.T.E.M jobs? Through history men have led the stem industry. There’s barely been any women and I believe it’s about time to change this. I think more women should do stem jobs. Not only would it allow for different views and improve the overall quality, but it also would set a great example for other woman and make them feel empowered.
For starters, when you exclude women in STEM jobs you exclude half of the populations views. According to the article “Why do we Need Women in STEM”, when women aren’t helping out in stem, their needs and desires are often overlooked. In the article “Talent Matters: In the push for STEM Women don’t Have to get left behind”, it says that people preform better in diverse environments, from studies done they say people work 12% harder, 19% better likelihood of staying with that job, and 57% better teamwork. That sounds amazing right? That all comes from just having more diverse environments.
This next reason might be my most important one, woman empowerment. When more women join stem they can be empowered and be role models for younger girls. The text “Why we Need Woman in STEM”, tells how when women join stem they become role models for younger girls. Women have to face a lo of gender bias and joining stem would be a great way t fight it. This is what the text “Why its Crucial to Get More Women into Science” talks about.
Some say women are just for cleaning, cooking, and looking after the children, but, these are very old, very traditional views. Many women have fought hard for their rights and won! That time period has come and gone, this is the 21st century. A century when women can vote and are equal to men. They can work and follow their dreams. If there dreams are to work in the STEM department, then let them work
