Why We Should Wear Seatbelts

A topic many Americans discuss is if it should be illegal to wear seatbelts or not. I believe that people should have to wear seatbelts by law. It is a way safer option, your seatbelt takes only a couple seconds to put on and you could be charged for something that wasn't your fault simply because seatbelts were not involved.

Seatbelts are designed to keep you safe. If you look up what a seatbelt is it states this “A seat belt, also known as a safety belt, is a vehicle safety device designed to secure the occupant of a vehicle against harmful movement that may result during a collision or a sudden stop.” Now notice look back at the first sentence, “A seat belt, also known as a safety belt” It says right there that all it a seatbelt does is keep you safe. Some people might make the point that when they get in the car they just want to go and not take the time to put a seatbelt on. Although it may be true that a seatbelt takes extra time to put on it is only a few seconds.
