Dropouts in school have been an important topic in education since the number of students that are dropping out has been increasing over the years. There is more than one reason students decide to leave school before graduating from high school. In the Gate Foundation report, they do a survey to investigate the main reasons of why students of age 16-25 years old drop out of high school. According to the Gate Foundation report, they are five main reasons why students are dropping out of school. Almost half of the students in the survey responded that one of the major reasons of dropping out of high school was because classes were not interesting or boring. Another major reason that students responded is that they had too much freedom and not enough rules. In other words, they feel that they were able to do whatever they wanted. Therefore, they missed class whenever they pleased because they taught it was not important and that nobody would care. Teachers and school administrators need to be strict regarding to attendance. Students need to see that it is really important to attend school everyday so that they attend in a regular basis. The last major reason that students drop out school is that they fail in school and they give up. According to the report, students said that no one would help them when they were having trouble with something. They did not get any support from most of their teachers so they give up and drop out of school. I think that students who are failing a class are the ones that need more support since they tend to frustrate when they do not understand something. I had so many teachers that made classes really boring and the worst thing is that they did not care about their students. I had to admit that I felt frustrated because they did not teach and most of the time they would put us to watch movies. One of the reasons of why I did not drop out of school (this was never an option for me) was because my parents always pushed me to be someone in this life. Therefore, I understand how these students did not feel interested to learn. As a prospective teacher, I want all my students to feel motivated so that they are always eager to learn something new. During my high school years, I saw so many students drop out because some students will gather with bad companies. It is really sad to see that smart students dropped out because of having bad influences around them. The way that I will address a student in my class who decide to drop out is by first talking to the student. I will try to convince or at least make them to see that is not a good idea to leave high school so early. I would also like to prevent and be aware of the students that need more
