The Reason Why Tattoos Are So Important People have many ways to define their selves. Whether it be the way they speak, how they walk, or how they dress, one of the most self-defining act that many people apply on their body is tattoos. Although it may be a way of expressing one’s own personality or interests, tattoos can cause personal controversies among others. Tattoos are something to share a message or picture with the world, but sometimes can cause others to judge those with tattoo’s to be departed from the world. Society should accept tattoos because they are one of the best ways for people to express their selves and connect with other and it/they can alleviate anxiety/depression. A permanent image, tattoos stay on one’s body forever, so the importance of the tattoo is extreme to the person applying it to his/her body. Once added to their body, tattoos immediately define a sense of who the person is. Their interest, their bonds, and their boundaries can all be expressed through their tatted skin to express self-identity. Interest from the tattoos can span anywhere from religion, music, sports, experience, etc. The bonds within a tattoo can mean the relationship with a person defined on their skin. Usually birth/death dates or people designed tattoos, these bonds are added to show the relations that are meaningful for that specific person. in the article teenagers and tattoos, author Andres Martin said, "An interested and nonjudgmental appreciation of teenagers surface presentations may become a way of making contact not only in their terms but on their turf: quite literally on the territory of their skins." meaning that they create their own boundaries through tattoos, which allows them to choose the social groups to be a part of .
