Lord of the Flies takes place in the middle of war, the reason for which a big group of school boys ages ranging from 6 to 12 were sent away on a plane. Sadly this plane is shot down and the only adult on the plane, the pilot is killed. Many of the boys on the plane however survive and are mostly scattered across an island until Ralph, the protagonist blows on a conch to group all the boys together, the main characters are then all grouped, Ralph, Piggy and Jack. The boys then trying to establish order and hold a vote to choose who should be the leader. Ralph is chosen mainly because he was the one who blew the conch and also because of his looks and athleticism. Their is an air battle which ends up in a dead person falling down to the island in a parachute, that ends up representing the beast. Jack decides that he wants to lead so he takes a few of the boys who follow him, they hunt and use the food they hunted to make more of the boys leave Ralph and join him, they also put the head of one of the pigs they killed on a stick. Simon goes into the jungle and has a vision of the pig’s head talking to him, it says it is the lord of the flies and tells simon that the beast is the kids.Then Simon goes to the mountain and finds out the truth of the dead man in a parachute, that it is not a beast. Soon almost all the boys are tempted by the food and leave Ralph except three, Piggy, Simon and the twins Eric and Sam. Jack holds a feast and all the boys show up even Ralph and Piggy, and they are all eating and doing the hunting dance when Simon shows up to tell them the truth about the deadman in the parachute but everyone attacks him even Ralph, Piggy, Eric and Sam.
