Martin Luther King Jr. made many decision that other people didn't agree with he stood up for himself and his community even knowing that punishment might follow but he wanted to have other people be themselves just like he is by standing up for what he thought was right. Martin Luther King Jr. was arrested for protesting segregation, he stood up for what he thought was right even though others might not. Lewis states that “ In late October he was arrested with 33 young people protesting segregation at the lunch counter in an Atlanta department store (Lewis).” King. knew that by him and 33 others protesting that there would be consequences. He knew that by him telling his followers to not ride the bus made a statement saying they can't treat us like this like we're nothing. He also knew that they shouldn't be ashamed of who they are just like he wasn't. King decided that he had enough and marched and gave a speech that changed everything, he made a final stand for what he thought was right. Furthermore, McGill writes ‘“ Marched on Washington for jobs and freedom” King Jr., one of the speakers for the event delivered his most famous speech “I have a Dream (McGill).” King spoke out against segregation in front of many people he thought that he and his followers needed to be treated equally and to not be afraid to be themselves for the fear of segregation. His speech changed a lot of rules and changed how some people thought about segregation. King’s life wasn't what he thought it should be so he took and stand and made a difference, even though many did not
