Danger is hidden inside of a college house fraternity that may seem to be normal. Usually you hear about how fun and great college is, but under all the smiles, hazing is occurring. Hazing is a vicious act performed by many people. Those who haze should be punished and it should be banned completely. Lives can be saved, danger and injuries won’t occur if hazing is not being performed any longer. Hazing is a reckless, intentional, or unintentional action or situation that puts at risk the mental, physical, or academic health or safety of a new coming student becoming a member of any organization like a fraternity. Furthermore, St. Augustine of Hippo, a fourth century Catholic bishop, also mused upon the occurrences of hazing, proclaiming hazing to be acts of the devil (Hosansky 142). It all started when veteran sailors harassed the rookie sailors in the hazed weather, which created the term hazing. During the Civil War, fraternities were for socializing and coming up with ideas and musing. After the Civil War, the soldiers returned to their home and told their children about the bonds that have been created during the war with other men. With this conception in mind, the children of these soldiers, looked to fraternities as a way to create those bonds when they began college.
