When I was thinking about going to the U.S. I had afraid because social media show many negative activities in the U.S. I was afraid of going because I was told by my friends and family that there are many things there that will shock you, mostly culture. For example, racism, and how hard is it to practice your religion there. The circumstance that led me to come to the U.S is that I want to get my bachelor degree. I decided to come to the U.S. to study, in Texas. I heard that people in Texas are not in good behavior, and they have some sort of hate towards black or dark skinned people. I watch american movies regularly. The first day of school was good because they all helped me when I asked. I was shocked because I expected the opposite. The expectation that I had in American’s culture were different. The Saudi Arabian culture is about customs and traditions the most. For example, family, everyone who has a family; sometimes they have to stay together for all their life with no excuses. Also, when the child grow up, he or she will take a part of the house responsibilities. In the American culture it is different that some families when their kids turn to 18 they have to leave the house and start their life as an adult and be independent. A good thing in America that I found, in my opinion, that girls and boys study together. I think the girls think different than boys. Girls are smarter than boys by their homework and spend more time on studying. The opportunities that I have are many. For instance, education is the best chance that I have right now.
