A medical assistant is the communication line between a physician and their patient. They inform the patient so that the physician has time for their other patients and are also the one person that the patient needs to trust besides the physician themselves.
The clinical side of a medical assistant is where they are able to do things in the clinic that is necessary for their physician to make a diagnosis. They take vitals or collect and prepare laboratory specimens. On the administrative side, they work mainly in the office in a front desk sort of feel.
