There are times that you are not so open to the idea of meeting new people, and making new friends. In everyday life we as a collective society constantly utilize stereotypes. Stereotypes are now found everywhere, the labeling and categorization individuals. We hear stereotypes every day and everywhere, sometimes we can find ourselves in a situation where we make stereotypes for a large group of people. Every person, no matter the age, is labeled using positive or negative stereotypes. Stereotyping is a way that people perceive others or a group. Most groups are called by a name, and sometimes it may have some truth to it. By using stereotypes, we infer that a person has a whole range of characteristics and abilities that we assume all members of that group have. Stereotypes are beliefs about people based on their membership in a particular group. Stereotypes can be positive, negative, or neutral. Stereotypes based on gender, ethnicity, or occupation. Stereotypes have several important functions. Stereotypes allow people to quickly process new information about an event or person. It also organizes people’s past experiences. However, the stereotype is extremely exaggerated. Yes, it is true that there are emos who are dealing with depression. There also is emos who love to wear the color black. It is also true that there have been incidents where emos have committed suicide or take part in self-harm and promote it as well. However, labeling them all as a sinister cult whereas all its members all dealing with depression or are suicidal or practice self-harm is a misconception, Each human and individual expresses themselves and interpret things differently. It is unjust to label all emos in such of a negative manner. They are humans and we should accept them in society regardless of their likes and
