All over the world people are being accused of cheating in sports, politics, and even relationships, but is cheating really that bad? Some people think that cheating is okay in some cases. I don’t agree with this, as cheating can get you in big trouble if you are caught. It’s really a dishonest way to get to your goal. People should learn that goals set high are accomplished by hard work and persistence. Another reason as to why cheating should never be accepted is that it can lead to developing bad habits in the future. If you start cheating, chances are that you will want to continue until it has been put into your mind that it’s okay to cheat.The other big reason as to why cheating should always be frowned upon is that the consequences of getting caught outweighs your goal. Some people say that cheating to reach your goal is just as bad as not making your goal. The greek tragedian, Sophocles says “I would prefer even to fail with honor than win by cheating.” Ancient Greeks were prideful and even they knew that cheating was dishonest and would bring shame. All throughout history, cheating has been looked down upon. Some people say that if one is not prepared for a test, that it would be okay for him to cheat. But rather than cheating, the bad grade on the test should be used as a learning opportunity to be prepared for the next test taken. Some people cheat to climb the metaphorical political ladder and become respected. This is wrong as it goes against democracy, which provides the freedom to vote.
