When you think of a hero who do you think of? You may think of your parents a teacher or even a person serving in the Military. But what if you lived in a world were everyone was exactly the same, and you were forced to stoop down to there level? Wouldn't you want someone to stand up and protest for you. Someone that refuses to be different, wouldn't that person be a hero to you if you wanted to be different? Harrison Bergeron in the short story "Harrison Bergeron", he was in a society that wanted every single person to be the same. Harrison strongly disagreed and was sent to jail, he never got a trial or a sentence, they just held him there so no one would listen and protest. Harrison was the one person that refused to be different, he didn't want equality among people. He thought it was good everyone was different. If you lived like this and happened to be the few that were above average, he would be a hero to you, because no one wants to walk around all day hearing loud piercing sounds that made you forget everything. The definition of a hero is a person who is admired for courage, in this case Harrison had a lot of courage. He did not care that the government would kill him for resisting, he refused to wear the big bulky metal box and have his memory erased. He wanted to stand up for every single person and show them how the government was controlling them. Harrison was a true hero for putting himself in danger just to save others. Harrison was killed showing people that it was perfectly okay to be above average and not be mediocre or the same as everyone else. Harrison stuck up for the people afraid of the government, he gave them a voice. A hero can be anyone you look up
