Which film, poem, song, or novel has most influenced your life and the way you view the world? Why? The power and complexity of cinema never fails to surprise me. It is able to shed light on diverse matters and open our eyes to new ways of thinking and feeling. Growing up watching movies, I have been deeply affected by many movies in different phases of my life. However some particular movies have managed to have a far more pervasive effect on me. One such Oscar nominated movie is Room. Based on a novel written by Emma Donoghue, it is a deeply emotional and highly suspenseful movie that explores the boundless love between a mother and her child. This movie has affected me deeply and emotionally and has taught me to look at the world differently. There is beauty and power in each scene of the movie and teaches us how to be resilient even in the most toughest of situations. It teaches us to never give up and always fight for what is right no matter how bad the situation. Room manages to teach its audience a lot of lessons and raises many questions. Throughout the movie Jack and his mother go through an intense struggle; be it captivity or freedom. They try tirelessly to fit in the normal world again and it seems as though their life never stops having any hardships throughout the entirety of the movie. Yet no matter what Jack and his mother continue to be each others greatest strengths and support each other through all the trauma that takes place throughout the movie.
